    Siemens' Electrical Products business provides solutions for power distribution, generation, and services, encompassing a broad range of low- and medium-voltage products and digital services for industrial, building, and residential applications to support digital transformation and sustainability.

     

    We are looking for a Plastic Tooling Engineer. This position will be based in Peachtree Corners GA.

     

    This Specialist Engineer role is pivotal for leading the complete lifecycle of plastic injection molds and tooling, encompassing design, development, manufacturing, maintenance, and quality assurance. The position demands a unique blend of hands-on precision machining expertise and a deep understanding of mold design and plastics processing. This individual will collaborate extensively with engineering, manufacturing, and external partners, while meticulously documenting all tooling processes and changes. The role aims to achieve zero defects and optimize tooling performance for operational excellence.

    You’ll make a difference with:

    Tooling Design & Development

    + Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of new and revised plastic injection molds and tooling.

    + Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to define project scope, requirements, and cost targets.

    + Develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, and work instructions to optimize tooling performance.

    Tooling Manufacturing & Maintenance

    + Responsible for Tooling repair and maintenance budget

    + Coordinate repair, maintenance, and modification of existing molds to meet production and quality standards.

    Quality Assurance & Improvement

    + Inspect and measure finished tooling ensuring compliance with design specifications and GD&T.

    + Provide engineering and troubleshooting support to resolve technical problems related to tooling and processes.

    + Support operational improvement and cost reduction activities, applying Lean Manufacturing techniques and quality standards (ISO-9001, AS9100.)

    Technical Expertise & Collaboration

    + Interpret complex mechanical and technical drawings, applying knowledge of tolerancing and capability studies.

    + Work closely with multi-functional teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure effective tooling solutions.

    + Communicate clearly and professionally across all levels, from engineering to production and external partners.

    Documentation & Project Management

    + Ensure all tooling data, changes, maintenance logs, and repair histories are accurately and thoroughly documented.

    + Lead tooling projects to meet established timelines and quality goals.

    + Maintain a safe, organized work environment and uphold personal accountability for project outcomes.

    You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

    Basic Qualifications:

    + High school diploma or technical qualification in Tool & Die Making, Mold Making, or related field.

    + 3+ years of experience with the following:

    + Plastic injection mold making or tool making.

    + Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models.

    + Good understanding of materials used in plastic tooling (e.g., tool steels, aluminum).

    + Familiarity with injection molding processes and troubleshooting is a plus.

    + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    + Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Apprenticeship or formal training in tool making.

    + Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).

    + Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

    + Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    + Basic Project Management is desired

    + Background in quality systems like 8D, PPAP documentation, Gage R&R
