Akima Global Logistics – Project Control Manager (Remote)
The **Project Control Manager** is a key member of the **Facilities Solutions Group (FSG) Operations Team** , responsible for leading all aspects of project control functions, including policies, processes, procedures, staffing, training, and mentoring.
This role oversees project control activities across assigned FSG/FGL companies, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and operational excellence. The selected candidate will identify gaps in project control support or expertise and partner with operations leadership to train existing staff or recruit additional resources as needed.
In addition to oversight responsibilities, the Project Control Manager will also provide **direct project support** as required. This is a **remote position** supporting nationwide operations.
Manages the activities of the project control function. Manages project setup, adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Estimates at Completion (EAC) development, project reporting, unbilled analysis, schedule status reporting, cost/variance analysis and Earned Value methodologies (EVMS). Designs and develops procedures and policies for the project control systems and function. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles. Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions. Administers departmental policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and assists with the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies.
Responsibilities
+ Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all aspects of Project Control to include:
+ Costpoint project setup and reporting.
+ Revenue recognition rules and regulations.
+ Month-End close.
+ Customer invoicing.
+ Cost and schedule variance analysis.
+ EAC development / EAC Reviews.
+ Forecasting development / Forecasting Reviews.
+ Unbilled analysis.
+ High risk/visibility program reviews.
+ Provides direct project control support to projects needed to help fill gaps.
+ Works with Shared Services and Operations to provide support for new project transitions/phase-ins as needed.
+ Regularly interfaces with and provide support/mentoring to the operating company Project Management and Project Controls POCs as needed.
+ The ability to communicate with the Project Management and Controls communities via Project Control forums, intranet postings and potentially conduct classroom lunch bunch and PM Excellence training sessions.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Business-related field.
+ Minimum 8+ years’ experience working for a Federal Government Contractor.
+ Solid understanding of all contract types, FAR regulations, government compliance.
+ Strong personnel management experience and communication skills.
+ Process improvement.
+ Ability to present to Senior Leadership.
+ Proficiency with Deltek CostPoint Project Module.
+ Deltek Time and Expense.
+ MS Excel Proficiency (Vlookup / SUMIF formulas, pivot tables, etc.).
+ Strong skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
+ Experience using and configuring MS SharePoint team sites.
Desired Qualifications:
+ Cognos experience preferred.
