    Base Pay Range: $88,651 - $125,071

    Position Summary

    We're looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations group, in which you'll be a strong contributing member in our collaborative environment. You'll find a good amount of autonomy here, as well as a hard-working group that contributes to Banner's ongoing success and continuing growth. In this role you'll participate in Banner's continued growth in the industrial automation industry working specifically with Connectivity. We are looking for someone with technical experience in building wire harness and cable assemblies and control boxes. This person would help lead and support hands-on prototype builds and ultimately source equipment and provide documentation for low to high volume production.

     

    This position reports to Manufacturing Engineering Director.

    According to the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), this position is classified as:

    + Exempt, based on the Professional Exemption

     

    What You'll Be Doing

     

    This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively and individually, staying on top of tasks, and making a meaningful impact across teams and projects. Below are some key responsibilities of the role.

    Key Responsibilities

    New Product Introduction

     

    + Provide project level comprehensive Manufacturing Engineering support as an integrated member of a design team.

    + Work with engineering team on manufacturability (DFM) effort for new product developments

    + Critically analyze new product concepts and provide constructive feedback for assembly requirements and constraints

    + Work with engineering team to incorporate preferred assembly methods and critical part features that are necessary to achieve yield and cost targets

    + Lead Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) sessions and proactively reduce and eliminate the causes of defects on new product introductions

    + Complete a manufacturing process plan to facilitate LEAN, and single piece flow errorproof manufacturing

    + Design Manufacturing line with necessary automation to achieve cost of goods sold requirement

    + Use workflow toolsets and PTC Creo to specify and provide assembly fixtures and automation

    + Create labor estimates, time standards, assembly drawings, routings, and procedural documentation

    + Manage preproduction engineering builds and the manufacturing release process

    + Participate in production line duplication and product transfers to US and international manufacturing facilities

     

    Process Development and Support

     

    + Lead post-product launch team to address production manufacturability, cost, and yield issues

    + Research and identify new production technologies to support cost and quality initiatives in the plants

    + Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) and Gage R&R for system control and optimization

    + Create and maintain assembly documentation and procedures

    Required

    + BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.

    + 3-5 years of relevant experience.

    + Good applied statistical skills.

    + Proficiency in PTC ProE, Creo or other similar solid modeling tools.

    + Working knowledge of fabrication processes such as plastic injection molding, machining, and metal forming.

    + Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

    + Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while balancing priorities.

    + Able to travel occasionally to our manufacturing facility in Mexico.

     

    Preferred

     

    + Experience in cable/wire preparations and equipment.

    + Experience in crimping of terminals that meet or exceed IPC standards and other relevant industry specifications.

    + Experience with one or more process technologies such as soldering, potting, injection molding, adhesive dispense, automation, etc.

    + Fixture conceptualization and design.

    + Equipment and automation specification, as well as deployment.

    + DOE, FMEA, and Gage R&R.

    + Able to identify and advocate for necessary design changes needed to meet production cost and yield goals.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    + This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

    + Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment and travel to other facilities when needed.

    + Corporate office and production floor environment - indoor and climate-controlled

    + Frequent interaction with cross-functional teams as well as employees across all levels of the organization—including entry-level staff, senior leadership and vendors.

    + Exposure to moderate noise, moving mechanical parts, and temperature changes in production areas.

    + PPE may be required in specific areas (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection)

    + Standard hours Monday through Friday; occasional overtime or travel may be required

    + Exposure to various manufacturing, warehousing, or related industrial locations.
