    Job Summary and Qualifications

    + Under the supervision and direction of the Clinical Pharmacist, prepares and dispenses prescribed medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals in an accurate and timely manner.

    + Ensures that all medications are appropriately bar-coded prior to dispensing; verifies barcode is recognized by the Meditech computerized order entry system.

    + Performs quality control/auditing functions to ensure that medications are appropriately available to caregivers.

    + Assists Coordinator Pharmacy Inventory in ensuring that the department has the necessary supplies, equipment and stock needed for daily operations.

    + Maintains proactive and effective communications with colleagues, and other members of the healthcare team.

    + Contributes to a culture of patient centered care by ensuring a quiet healing environment.

    + Actively contributes to and works toward hospital wide improvement in meeting core measures, patient safety and service excellence goals."

    + Continuously evaluates work process and design; understands role in ensuring quality/performance improvement, productivity, and service delivery to meet stakeholder needs.

    + Performs duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, and recognized professional, quality, patient safety, environmental and infection control standards.

    + Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.

    + Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patients care which results in patient harm.

    + Anticipates and responds quickly to patient needs as assigned within scope of practice.

    + Acknowledges patients appropriately. Introduces self and others. Explains purpose of visit/care and communicates anticipated during to enhance patient experience. Uses key works at key times.

    + Fosters positive first impression by ensuring all work areas are organized, clean and project a professional appearance.

    + Promotes a professional image and acts as an ambassador inside and outside the organization. Takes ownership and demonstrates service excellence principles in all interactions with the patient, physician and others. Ensures patient's safety, dignity and privacy at all times.

    + Actively participates in improving operational efficiently, effectiveness and achievement of established goals/performance metrics.

    + Optimizes use of supplies, equipment and services, ensuring a high level of clinical care at the lowest cost. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.

    + Directs and supports other staff members in meeting the expectations of quality patient care and professional behavior in a timely manner.

    + Functions as a resource person for staff members and provides education as necessary.

    + Assists with interviewing, selection and evaluation of staff. Assists with work prioritization and assignment of staff.

    + Willingly shares knowledge/expertise and assists co-workers. Fosters teamwork and contributes to achievement of team goals. Acts as a resource for co-worker's as appropriate.

    + Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the Code of Conduct. Personal/professional conduct reflects the Company’s values and a commitment to the Code of Conduct.

    + Demonstrates personal responsibility for professional development. Actively promotes development of self and others through participation in professional organizations, educational opportunities, etc.

    + Attends and participates in staff meetings, patient conferences and in-service presentations as appropriate. Completes annual competency training, including but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS, and OSHA standards (PPE, First Aid and Blood-borne Pathogens, Hazard Communications, Emergency Procedures and Job Safety).

    What qualifications you will need:

    + (CPhT) Certified Pharmacy Technician Required

    + (PharmTech) Pharmacy Technician License Required

    + High School Graduate / GED Required

     

    HCA Florida Osceola Hospital is a 404-bed tertiary care hospital. We are accredited by the Joint Commission and are a Level II Trauma Center. We are a teaching hospital in collaboration with UCF College of Medicine. Our hospital is conveniently and centrally located in the Heart of Kissimmee.
