    Job Summary

    The Urban League of Rochester is seeking a results-driven leader who is passionate about the Greater Rochester community and committed to advancing education and empowering youth through meaningful, exploratory experiences. This individual must be capable of managing multiple programs simultaneously, understanding community needs, and implementing innovative strategies that foster youth education and development.

     

    The Youth and Education Divisional Director will serve as the lead for the Black Scholars Program. This individual will coordinate directly with schools, school counselors, and district partners across Monroe County and the surrounding counties to ensure the effective coordination of the Black Scholars Program. The Director will oversee all program activities and communications, maintain relationships with scholarship partners, and ensure alignment with program goals. In addition, the Director will take the lead in planning and executing community events that are well-organized, engaging, and impactful.

    Job Duties

    + Oversee all Youth and Education programs, support services, and special projects to ensure program goals are achieved.

    + Monitor program performance, evaluate outcomes, and develop corrective action plans when needed.

    + Stay informed about policies and regulations at the federal, state, county, and local levels to ensure full compliance and successful execution of grants and program goals.

    + Prepare and submit all required reports for management and funding sources on a timely basis.

    + Provide reports and recommendations to committees, agencies, and governmental partners.

    + Maintain strong and consistent communication with program and community partners.

    + Supervise, coach, and evaluate the performance of departmental staff.

    + Represent the Youth and Education Division in the community and with funding partners.

    + Participate in grant development, proposal writing, and related funding activities.

    + Prepare, monitor, and manage the division’s budget and allocated funds responsibly.

    + Identify and pursue new funding opportunities to strengthen and expand programming.

    + Participate in agency leadership, divisional, and operational meetings.

    + Contribute to agency policy development and collaborative problem-solving efforts.

    + Support and actively participate in Urban League functions, community events, and fundraising activities.

    + Perform additional duties as assigned by executive leadership or required by agreements with program sponsors or funders.

    Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Minimum of four years of relevant experience in education, training, vocational counseling, project management, or related fields, with at least two years in a supervisory role.

    + Proven project management and program development experience.

    + Demonstrated experience working with youth in educational or community-based settings.

    + Teaching or counseling background strongly preferred.

    + Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

    + Knowledge of grant-funded programs and reporting requirements.

    + Understanding of public administration, personnel supervision, and fiscal management principles.

    + Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.

    + Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities; ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and institutions.

    + Collaborative, team-oriented leader with a proactive and positive approach.

    + Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

     

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Excel.
