We’re seeking a visionary AI Governance & Eminence Lead to drive IBM’s enterprise AI vision and transformation. This role drives business outcomes through insights, structured problem-solving, and a consultative approach with IBM stakeholders to accelerate AI strategy and deliver measurable value, fosters high-impact AI alliances, and serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.

Your role and responsibilities

We’re seeking an enterprise leader to own AI governance and industry eminence for IBM enterprise. This role ensures safe, compliant, and value-driven AI adoption at scale within IBM business functions, while positioning IBM as a recognized authority in responsible AI. As the AI Governance & Eminence Lead, you will lead IBM’s global efforts to elevate its profile in AI by advancing thought leadership, shaping enterprise strategy, and innovating governance that both accelerate AI adoption and safeguard trust. Under the VP for AI Transformation, this role bridges internal strategy and external visibility, supporting IBM’s business priorities and positioning the company as the premier voice in AI transformation. This role requires strategic foresight, governance expertise, and executive presence to influence C-suite decisions, drive measurable outcomes, and build IBM’s AI leadership globally.

Required technical and professional expertise

Set and drive IBM’s AI thought leadership agenda by building and leading a global analytic unit with enterprise-wide remit. Design and operationalize a Program of Analysis (PAO) that delivers novel, actionable insights on AI adoption across industries and governments, including primary uses, risks, and opportunities in enterprise deployment.

Within IBM, own efforts to translate thought leadership into business value. Lead cross-functional efforts to interpret external trends, shaping IBM strategies, informing C-suite decision-making, anticipating client risks and opportunities, and driving new business growth.

Externally, differentiate IBM in the market by amplifying executive communications, representing IBM at global conferences and industry forums, and forging strategic alliances with leading institutions.

Position IBM as a trusted leader in responsible AI innovation and deployment.

Lead enterprise-wide processes to leverage standards and risk frameworks, monitor cross-functional implementation, measure impact and value, and lead processes to refine practices that maximize responsible AI deployment.

Advance novel governance initiatives that sharpen IBM’s understanding of AI’s societal impact, build public trust, and establish governance as a competitive advantage.

Build ecosystem trust with partners, clients, and regulators by demonstrating transparency and responsible practices.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

*

10+ years in enterprise transformation, governance, or portfolio management, with 5+ years in AI/ML leadership

*

Ability to set long-term direction and translate thought leadership into market advantage.

*

Strong command of data-driven decision making to shape strategy, assess impact, and guide enterprise investments.

*

Able to build trust and broker alignment across senior leaders, clients, and external partners. Skilled at influencing senior leaders and global stakeholders with clarity and authority.

Proven experience in AI governance frameworks, risk management, and compliance

Demonstrated ability to drive adoption and cultural change at scale

Track record of building external eminence through partnerships, media, and thought leadership

*

Proven record of building and mentoring high-performing, cross-disciplinary teams, cultivating a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability. Experience overseeing significant budgets and resources, ensuring ROI and alignment with enterprise objectives.

Familiarity with global AI regulations and standards (NIST, ISO, EU AI Act)

Exceptional storytelling, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills
