Job Summary and Qualifications

TriStar Horizon is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Radiation Therapist to join our team on a PRN basis. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing exceptional care to cancer patients by accurately administering radiation therapy treatments. Your expertise in patient care, coupled with your commitment to safety and quality, will ensure the best possible outcomes for those you serve. This position offers a supportive, team-oriented environment where you can contribute to our mission of providing outstanding patient care.

What You Will Do In This Role

+ You will demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, treatment, and care appropriate to the ages of patients served.

+ You will accurately administer radiation therapy treatments to patients.You will verify prescribed treatment doses, fields, and angles before each treatment.

+ You will assure placement of protective devices to shield healthy tissue.You will place and immobilize patients to ensure accurate treatment.

+ You will maintain constant visual and intercom contact with patients during treatment to ensure they remain in the proper position.

+ You will observe patients daily for unusual reactions and report any abnormal conditions to the radiation oncologist.

+ You will clearly chart treatment details in the patient’s medical record.You will provide verification films for each patient treated.

+ You will check treatment records daily and weekly for mathematical or documentation errors.You will provide appropriate teaching to patients and families.

+ You will follow all radiation safety principles, keep your work area clean and organized, and adhere to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.

+ You will educate radiation therapy students on the principles and practices of the profession.

+ You will participate in performance improvement activities to assure continuous quality improvement.

+ You will maintain an appropriate awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, and co-workers.

+ You will promote a supportive, team-work oriented environment.

+ You will fulfill departmental responsibilities in line with the long-range plan, mission, vision, and values of the organization.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

+ Bachelors Degree

+ (ARRT-R) Radiography, or (ARRT-T) Radiation TherapyRegistered in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist or a similar accrediting organization.

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification
