This position is for Parker Hannifin’s Composite Sealing Systems Division, located in San Diego (Otay Mesa), California. The standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 5:00am - 1:30pm; however, overtime may be required based on business needs.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Maintenance Technician IV performs advanced maintenance and troubleshooting on complex mechanical and electrical systems, utilizing detailed blueprints and schematics to ensure equipment functionality and safety. The associate manages maintenance budgets, oversees spare parts inventory, and supports safety and operational training programs. The associate actively participates in team goals and continuous improvement initiatives, ensures efficient production flow and adherence to quality and safety standards, and maintains a safe and inclusive work environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
+ Perform maintenance of machinery and procures necessary materials.
+ Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control problems and determine method of repair or replacement.
+ Inspect equipment to determine reasons for malfunction and take corrective action.
+ Replace worn-out or broken parts.
+ Disassemble, troubleshoot, clean, and repair mechanical unit parts.
+ Perform functional tests of installed, rebuilt, or repaired machines or equipment.
+ Perform safety inspections related to guarding and other safety controls.
+ Test, maintain, and evaluate equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeter, ohmmeter, pyrometer, and pressure gauges.
+ Check pumps, fans, valves, and motors.
+ Inspect electrical conduit, wiring, switching devices, controls, outlets, fixtures, motors and other equipment.
+ Work from complex blueprints, drawings, sketches, schematics, and manufacturing specifications.
+ Manage a budget for maintenance and facilities.
+ Manage spare parts list and inventory.
+ Support training including forklift, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and spill response, etc.
+ Comply with Parker's Quality policy and processes to ensure compliance to ISO, AS, and MS certifications.
+ Adapt to changing production demands or shifts in priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.
+ Foster an inclusive and respectful workplace by treating all team members with dignity and respect.
+ Follow established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area.
+ Work collaboratively with team members and actively participate in High-Performance Teams (HPT), Kaizens, and other Lean initiatives to drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance operational efficiency.
+ Perform other duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
+ High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
+ Forklift certification
+ Lockout/Tagout certification
Experience:
+ 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
+ 5+ years of experience in a maintenance related position
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
+ Experience with computer software used to manage preventative maintenance and spare parts.
Skills:
+ Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondences, and memos in English.
+ Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.
+ Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety.
+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with other team members.
+ Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as algebra and geometry, for measurements and quantities.
+ Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
+ Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work assignments in a fast-paced setting.
+ Ability to understanding and adhere to quality standards in production processes.
+ Ability to use inspection equipment, tools, and gauges.
+ Ability to read and understand bar graphs for department metrics.
Physical Demands:
+ Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly.
+ Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to use hands and fingers for detailed work over extended periods of time.
+ Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a focus on accuracy and efficiency for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to wear required PPE throughout the entirety of the shift.
+ Ability to use power tools and heavy machinery.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

SALARY INFORMATION:
Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $26.75 - $40.75 per hour.
