General Function:
The Scrum Master I serves as an Agile facilitator responsible for leading multiple teams through all phases of the Scrum framework. This role guides Agile delivery at both the team and program level, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and driving continuous improvement across teams. The Scrum Master I acts as a servant leader and Agile coach, fostering collaboration, accountability, and delivery excellence within Hy-Vee’s Information Technology organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
+ Facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives for multiple Agile teams.
+ Partner with Product Managers, Product Owners, and Engineering Leads to ensure clear backlog prioritization, story refinement, and sprint goal alignment.
+ Coach and mentor team members, peers, and junior Scrum Masters on Agile principles, frameworks, and delivery best practices.
+ Measure and report on team performance metrics such as velocity, throughput, burndown, and predictability to drive transparency and improvement.
+ Identify, communicate, and help remove organizational impediments that impact team delivery and productivity.
+ Collaborate across product, engineering, and business functions to promote Agile maturity and scalability throughout the organization.
+ Support enterprise-level Agile initiatives and facilitate coordination between teams in large, complex programs.
+ Encourage a culture of trust, continuous learning, and ownership among Agile teams.
+ Advocate for process improvements, experiment with new Agile practices, and contribute to developing internal Agile communities of practice.
Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ 0-2 years of experience serving as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Agile Delivery Lead in a technology-driven organization.
+ Proven experience leading multiple Agile teams and guiding delivery in enterprise-scale environments.
+ Demonstrated success in applying Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe principles to complex initiatives.
Preferred:
+ Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM), or equivalent Agile certification.
+ Familiarity with Agile planning and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar.
+ Experience working in retail, logistics, e-commerce, or large-scale enterprise technology environments.
+ Exposure to cloud-based solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Physical Requirements:
+ Visual requirements include standard office computer work.
+ Must be able to sit for extended periods and communicate clearly in meetings and virtual settings.
+ Occasional travel may be required to company locations or team events.

Working Conditions:
+ Primarily office or hybrid environment with standard business hours.
+ May require extended hours or on-call availability to support critical project milestones.
Financial Responsibility:
+ Responsible for ensuring efficient use of resources within assigned Agile teams and projects.
+ May contribute to forecasting and planning activities related to team delivery capacity.
