This position is responsible for the management and implementation of Logistics processes, procedures, and projects at designated plant locations. The primary function is maintaining an exceptionally stable and competitive freight distribution network while honoring the Altium Packaging guiding principles at all times. Key activities include leading the centralized procurement and management of all real estate and outside warehouse needs for the company as well as any material handling equipment to be used in those facilities. Ongoing efforts in identifying and implementing cost reduction and process improvements are also required. Critical success factors include excellent negotiation skills, the ability to work with cross functional teams, creative problem solving, and a solid understanding of the financials that drive all costs.
+ Successful management of the company-wide transportation program. This includes working with 50+ plant locations to determine accurate requirements while negotiating with 3rd Party transportation carriers via formal freight RFP’s and ongoing business reviews.
+ Management and development of private fleet operations and DOT processes, including meeting company PM and compliance requirements for a fleet of 1200+ Altium Packaging company owned trailers.
+ Ongoing optimization of company owned and leased assets (tractors, trailers, forklifts, etc.).
+ Day to day management of freight payment activities to include oversight of the 120,000+ annual transactions processed through the Altium Packaging 3rd party freight payment provider partner.
+ Facilitate the Altium Packaging fuel surcharge (FSC) program ensuring pricing changes are implemented in an accurate and timely manner.
+ Responsible for capturing all cost increases and working with the commercial group to ensure these costs are identified, reviewed, and passed to customers consistent with existing agreements.
+ Work closely with the RCM (Regional Customer Manager) team to ensure outstanding customer service, as measured via a company-wide NPS program. This group is also a critical tool in driving solutions to customer related issues that may impact the Altium Packaging delivery network.
+ Assist in the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) in all Logistics areas including but not limited to transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and network effectiveness.
+ Support organization with warehousing needs while consistently evaluating inventory requirements and the utilization of the highest service, most price competitive solutions.
+ Manage and negotiate new leases or lease extensions for Altium Packaging’s growing list of manufacturing locations to maximize value and ensure market competitiveness.
+ Work closely with the Production Planning team to ensure the optimization of plant sourcing alternatives while eliminating controllable premium freight spend (excess dollars incurred shipping from secondary locations).
+ Support the plant network in resolving SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Reports) in a timely manner by implementing corrective actions and negotiating claims as appropriate.
+ Support three distinct business units within the organization as “internal customers” providing service with any and all supply chain related needs. This includes but isn’t limited to emergency freight shipments, rate quotes, and other miscellaneous delivery or warehousing responsibilities.
+ Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or related business area.
+ Minimum 5+ years of experience in field operations with demonstrated skills in transportation operations, warehousing, and inventory planning/management.
+ Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential.
+ Proficiency in Word and Excel are required. Experience with Microsoft Access, Project, and Visio a plus.
+ Estimated 25% travel
