    Senior Accountant – Contract-to-Hire or Contract Role

    Position Overview

    As the Senior Accountant, you will take ownership of key financial processes, ensuring the organization's financial health, compliance, and reporting needs are met.     Key Responsibilities

    + Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

    + General Ledger Maintenance: Reconcile accounts and oversee the general ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness.

    + Grant and Fund Accounting: Manage grant activity, monitor spending, and ensure compliance with donor restrictions and reporting requirements.

    + Budgeting: Collaborate with leadership on the creation, analysis, and oversight of the annual budget and long-term financial planning.

    + Audit Support: Coordinate audit preparation and liaise with external auditors.

    + Compliance: Ensure adherence to nonprofit accounting standards, IRS guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

    + Process Improvements: Identify and implement enhancements to streamline accounting workflows and strengthen internal controls.

    Requirements

    Desired Qualifications

    + Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is a plus but not required.

    + Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in nonprofit organizations or fund accounting.

    + Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit financial regulations, including grant management and restricted funds.

    + Communication: Effective communication skills to translate financial data into actionable insights for stakeholders.

    + Analytical Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
