Payroll Manager (Contract/Contract-to-Hire)

Robert Half is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Manager for a contract or contract-to-hire opportunity. If you are an experienced payroll professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and excels in optimizing payroll operations, this is an exciting opportunity to make an impact at a dynamic organization.

Position Overview:

As a Payroll Manager, you will oversee and manage the payroll function to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, while adhering to compliance standards and maintaining data integrity. You will collaborate with internal teams and contribute to process improvements to ensure efficiency and accuracy in payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including bi-weekly or monthly cycles, tax filings, deductions, and regulatory compliance (Source: Robert Half Finance and Accounting Insights).

+ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

+ Develop and implement strategies to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, and reporting.

+ Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee inquiries effectively.

+ Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and other departments to align payroll processes with broader organizational goals.

+ Maintain and secure payroll records confidentially and ensure systems are updated regularly.

+ Generate reports for accounting reconciliation and financial audits as needed.

+ Assist in integrating payroll systems during transitions or acquisitions.

Requirements

Requirements:

+ Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.

+ Strong understanding of payroll compliance, taxes, deductions, and labor laws.

+ Ability to lead and mentor payroll team members effectively.

+ Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with reporting dashboards.

+ Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g., CPP – Certified Payroll Professional).
