Water Systems Operator – Biotech / Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing
We are seeking a Water Systems Operator to manage, monitor, and maintain purified water and Water for Injection (WFI) systems in a GMP-regulated biotech or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment for our client. This role ensures all water systems operate reliably, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards, supporting uninterrupted production operations.
**Type:** Contract-to-hire
**Rate:** $33 - $40/hr
**Location:** Middlesex County, NJ
Shift: All Shifts Available
Key Responsibilities
+ Operate, monitor, and maintain WFI, purified water, and clean steam systems to ensure consistent quality and availability.
+ Perform routine sampling, testing, and data logging in compliance with GMP and USP requirements.
+ Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on water system components, including RO units, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, filters, and storage/distribution loops.
+ Monitor system performance trends and respond promptly to alarms or deviations to minimize downtime.
+ Support validation, calibration, and change control activities related to water and utility systems.
+ Maintain accurate documentation per SOPs, GMP, and FDA regulations.
+ Collaborate with Facilities, Engineering, and Quality teams to investigate issues and implement corrective actions.
+ Participate in on-call or off-hour coverage to support 24/7 operations as needed.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma required.
+ Minimum 2 years of experience operating or maintaining WFI, purified water, or clean utility systems in a GMP-regulated biotech, biopharma, or pharmaceutical environment.
+ Strong understanding of WFI and purified water generation and distribution, including RO, EDI, and distillation.
+ Knowledge of GMP, USP, and FDA requirements for clean utilities.
+ Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, technical manuals, and system schematics.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
+ Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
+ Ability to participate in on-call or off-hour coverage to support 24/7 operations as needed.
