**Required Qualifications** (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry with an emphasis on chemical biology, cell biology or a closely related field in hand by the start of the appointment. Candidates may be considered if they are nearing the completion of their PhD, with valid proof provided.
**Preferred Qualifications** :
Experience in live-cell, high-resolution confocal fluorescence microscopy imaging, the design and synthesis of novel fluorescence molecular probes, and mammalian cell culture.
**Brief Description of Duties** :
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator Dr. Simou Sun (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/chemistry/people/faculty\_profiles/Sun-Simou.php#RESEARCHDESCRIPTION) in the department of Chemistry. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
• Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct interdisciplinary research in chemical biology and biophysics, with a specific focus on the cell biology and biophysics of extracellular vesicles.
• Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
• Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
• Mentor graduate students conducting research on related topics.
• Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
• Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
