Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for establishing and implementing the most cost-efficient methods for production. This individual will plan and coordinate the activities necessary to produce specified products within safety, quality and cost standards and ensure schedule compliance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
+ Develop comprehensive machine strategies including process plans, cycle time estimates, and cost analysis while applying PFMEA principles to design low-risk, high-efficiency CNC processes.
+ Obtain and maintain expert-level knowledge on all CNC equipment, tooling, and processes at Polaris.
+ Generate clear and concise CNC documentation that effectively communicates expectations to the end user.
+ Take primary ownership of CNC fixturing and tooling strategy, including selection, validation, and continuous improvement to support manufacturing excellence.
+ Champion the integration of advanced machine control features such as Tool Life Management, Tool Break Detection, and Air Seat Detection and to error-proof CNC machining processes and enhance operational reliability.
+ Own and manage the cutting tools inventory strategy, maintaining optimal stock levels to minimize the risk of tool shortages while controlling inventory costs; continuously evaluating usage trends and supplier performance to support efficient, cost-effective machining operations.
+ Review and implement spare parts inventory and preventative maintenance plans for CNC machines, and fixtures.
+ Leverage quality data and SQDCI trends to identify root causes of machining and material issues; implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement in product quality, process reliability, and operational performance.
+ Partner with Quality Engineers to develop and optimize quality assurance strategies for machined components.
+ Partner with Quality Engineers to develop and execute robust validation plans utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor key features and assess process capabilities.
Additional Responsibilities
+ Purchase tooling is critical to machining and production processes, ensuring alignment with performance and lifecycle requirements.
+ Demonstrate ability to develop CNC processes from concept to implementation, including validation and operator training.
+ Analyze impact and adjust to predicted changes in priorities and evolving environments, maintaining agility in production planning.
+ Review specifications and develop/maintain internal standards, templates, and best practices for the MCO Engineering team to reference during DFM exercises.
+ Collaborate with engineers across Polaris sites to refine specifications and ensure consistency in manufacturing standards.
+ Identify equipment upgrades or acquisitions required to meet product capability goals and define technical requirements.
+ Generate ROI analyses for proposed continuous improvement investments to support data-driven decision-making.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
+ 4-year degree in Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field required
+ 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering or machining industry experience in a fast-paced production environment, preferably in automotive industry
+ Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
+ Excellent verbal and written skills required
+ Proficiency with PC's and Microsoft suite
+ Proficiency with (at least one) DMGMori, Makino, SW and/or Kitamura CNC Machines
+ Strong Project Management skills

The starting pay range for Minnesota is $90,000-$115,000 annually. Individual pay and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.
