Description of Work Unit
Provide construction and remodel service to the various departments on campus to fulfill the mission of the university community.
Position Summary
Implements the work unit’s goals and objectives by performing skilled low voltage work carried out by a Qualified Electronic Technician under Industry Standards, CSU Building Standards, Communications Regulation, Fire, Life, and Safety codes, and all applicable Building and Trade codes. This includes but is not limited to the maintenance, repair, removal and replacement of electronic systems and/or associated components. Provide construction and remodel of existing space to meet the ever-changing needs of the university.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate in the application materials:
Experience Only:
+ Two (2) years of experience and competency with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of systems in the Low Volt arena, such as Fire Alarm, Card Access, Building Automation, Intrusion, Camera, Audio/Visual systems and components.
OR
Education and Experience:
+ A combination of related education and/or relevant experience with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of systems in the Low Volt arena, such as Fire Alarm, Card Access, Building Automation, Intrusion, Camera, Audio/Visual systems and components equal to two (2) years.*Please note, unofficial or official transcripts must be attached if utilizing education to meet the minimum qualifications.

The highly desired candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, personal characteristics, and experience directly related and critical to this position:
+ NICET Fire Alarm Certification, BICSI Communication Certification, or other Trade Certification relevant to Low Volt work.
+ Four years of experience in low voltage or electrical trades.
+ Journeyman Electrical License
+ Demonstrated knowledge of Industry Standards, Building Codes and Safety Protocols
+ Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
+ Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting blueprints in a commercial or industrial environment.
+ Directly related state service experience
