    About the Role:

    The Toolroom Attendant plays a critical role in supporting the manufacturing operations at Huntington Ingalls Shipyard by managing and maintaining the toolroom inventory and equipment. This position ensures that all tools and machinery are properly stored, accounted for, and in optimal working condition to facilitate uninterrupted production workflows. The Toolroom Attendant collaborates closely with production teams to provide timely access to necessary tools and assists in the calibration and repair of equipment as needed. By maintaining accurate records and adhering to safety protocols, this role contributes to the overall efficiency and safety of the manufacturing environment. Ultimately, the Toolroom Attendant helps sustain high-quality standards and operational readiness within the durable goods manufacturing process.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + High school diploma or equivalent.

    + Basic knowledge of hand and power tools used in manufacturing environments.

    + Ability to read and interpret inventory records and work orders.

    + Physical ability to lift and move tools and equipment as required.

    + Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Previous experience working in a toolroom or manufacturing support role.

    + Familiarity with durable goods manufacturing processes and safety regulations.

    + Basic mechanical aptitude and experience with tool calibration.

    + Proficiency with inventory management software or systems.

    + Certification in tool management or related technical training.

    Responsibilities:

    + Manage the receipt, storage, issuance, and return of tools and equipment to production personnel.

    + Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular audits to ensure tool availability and condition.

    + Inspect tools and equipment for damage or wear and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.

    + Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper handling procedures within the toolroom.

    + Support production teams by providing timely access to required tools and assisting with tool-related inquiries.

    + Organize and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the toolroom workspace.

    + Assist in the calibration and maintenance of precision tools and measuring instruments.

    Skills:

    The Toolroom Attendant utilizes organizational skills daily to maintain an accurate and accessible inventory of tools, ensuring production teams have what they need without delay. Attention to detail is critical when inspecting tools for damage or wear, which helps prevent equipment failure and production downtime.
