Job Overview:
The APTIM Federal Services, LLC team is seeking a Senior Environmental Chemist to manage a multi-disciplinary group providing planning, sampling, and analytical support to projects supported by its Concord, California and other Pacific coast client groups. Will consider a hybrid model for the right candidate if more than 50 miles from the Concord office. This position will provide support and management support to a variety of Field and Office/Remote Chemistry-related tasks on all phases of project activities. Environmental Laboratory experience is desired, but not a requirement.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
+ Management, oversight, and mentoring of assigned staff including samplers, technicians, and chemists.
+ Scoping and planning of field sampling and analytical needs for a variety of proposal and project efforts for both government and commercial clients
+ Development of project plans addressing sampling and analytical requirements and data quality objectives and criteria.
+ Developing scopes for subcontractor laboratory services and assisting subcontracts/procurement staff in evaluating bidder qualifications, exceptions, and technical competency
+ Planning and oversight of on-site sample collection and packaging and shipping of samples and coordinating with subcontract laboratories
+ Interpretation/evaluation and validation of chemical data
+ Data tracking and evaluations against project criteria
+ Communication of data and comparison to decision-limits to project teams, including client and/or regulator entities, ensuring conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures
+ Participation in project planning and execution should results indicate additional action is required
+ May be required to perform duties such as audits, site visits, task startup/troubleshooting at project sites requiring onsite roles including in PPE in limited circumstances on project sites
Basic Qualifications:
+ Ability to work individually as well as cooperatively and be an important member of multiple project/proposal teams
+ Ability to prioritize assignments and work independently with minimal guidance
+ May act as a resource for colleagues with less experience
+ Monitor and control costs within own work. Solve moderately complex problems; take a new perspective on existing solutions
+ Manage own time to meet agreed targets
+ Possess ability to explain difficult issues, develop and plan solutions, and work to establish consensus
+ Promote teamwork; coaches and guides others.
+ Possess a BS Degree in Chemistry or other Environmental/Physical Science discipline
+ Familiarity with environmental analytical methods and guidance from EPA, DoD/DOE, and various states throughout the western US and its Pacific territories
+ Typically has 10+ years relevant experience, with at least 5 years of experience in environmental planning, development of Quality Assurance Project Plans and Sampling and Analysis Plans for environmental investigation/remediation projects.
+ Typically has 3-10 years of experience in supervision of environmental sampling and/or analytical staff

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $130K to $160K per year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
