    Position Specific Description

     

    The Senior Manager, Project Execution, East Region at NextEra Energy Transmission will support the development of multi-state transmission project(s). This position requires experience in large-scale transmission or other energy infrastructure permitting. This role will require supporting one or more projects within the PJM jurisdiction, with a primary emphasis on transmission licensing and development. The ideal candidate will have experience managing infrastructure projects or major workstreams associated with those projects. This role will be responsible for driving progress on new electric transmission projects within the PJM region, supporting projects through siting, permitting, and major project approvals.

    This role will require:

    + Leading the internal team and coordinating tasks with subject matter experts

    + Tracking regulatory submissions and requests for information, and coordinating with internal subject matter experts to prepare responses

    + Developing and implementing project strategy to meet project milestones and while staying within the project budget

    + Participating in stakeholder engagement meetings with elected officials, agencies, and key stakeholders located along the project route

    + Supporting the development of applications for regulatory and permitting approval for the project

    + Providing reports project progress, risk mitigation efforts and metrics through monthly metric meetings and regularly as needed.

     

    This role requires energy development experience and should have experience leading cross functional project teams. Experience supporting the development of linear infrastructure is preferred.

     

    This position will require some travel (10-25+%).

    Job Requirements:

    + Minimum five years of experience in any combination of linear or project development and management, engineering, procurement, construction, and/or finance required

    + Experience from: project management, project controls, linear operations & maintenance, transmission design and construction, finance, procurement, and environmental regulations and compliance

    + Ability to support multiple projects and activities simultaneously and effectively prioritize resources

    + Ability to support decision making with limited data and identify/quantify risks associated with those decisions

    + Ability to complete tasks with a minimum of supervision and minimum rework

    + Ability to consider both analytical data and commercial/financial implications in making sound recommendations

    Leadership Criteria:

    + Must be flexible, adapting easily to changing priorities

    + Identify key stakeholders, build effective working relationships, and have effective communication skills

    + Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

    Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    + Manage components of transmission project execution, including routing, right-of-way acquisition, environmental analysis, permitting, engineering/design, regulatory compliance, local community and stakeholder engagement, project legal review and financial feasibility

    + Maintain collaborative relationships and clear communication internally and externally with key stakeholders and leaders

    + Organize and manage tasks to support project timelines and key milestones

    + Identify schedule risks and potential threats to project execution

    + Proactively communicate timelines and risks with project leadership

    + Ensure compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements

    Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new and enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost-effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.

    Job Duties & Responsibilities

    + Manages all aspects of the day-to-day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost-effective and competitive result

    + Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations

    + Responsible for managing multiple and complex projects

    + Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects

    + Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection

    + Constructs contractual arrangements for project development

    + Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors

    + Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements

    + Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community

    + Performs other job-related duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications

    + High School Grad/GED

    + Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience

    + Experience: 5+ years

    The estimated base pay for this position is $126,400.00 to $189,600.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
