About Roche - Near Patient Care Operations
Doing now what patients need next. The customer area Near Patient Care (NPC) unites Roche’s Point of Care and Diabetes Care portfolios. Our ambition is to improve disease management by enabling critical answers and personalized care, closer to the people we serve. With our passion we bring testing closer to patients and empower people to better monitor their own health and help healthcare professionals make faster, more confident decisions closer to the patient.
Within NPC Operations, we are globally accountable for the end-to-end production of solutions for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), blood glucose monitoring (BGM), and insulin delivery (IDS), as well as Point-of-Care (POC) products. The most relevant internal manufacturing sites are Mannheim in Germany and Indianapolis in the USA.
Your new team
As Manufacturing Science and Technology in NPC Operations, we bridge the gap between development and manufacturing. With around 200 colleagues across Mannheim, Indianapolis, and Rotkreuz, we lead technology strategy, product design industrialization, and collaboration with external partners throughout the product lifecycle. As a project-based organization, we enable scalable product designs ready for mass production, ensure robust processes and equipment for excellent yields, and ensure scalable QC processes. Partnering with external networks, we secure competitive manufacturing costs and reliable production. Your Opportunity
As the Head of MSAT - Analytical Core, you will hold end-to-end responsibility for the manufacturing processes that are critical to the functionality of all products manufactured at NPC Operations. Serving as the vital interface with R&D, you will be accountable for a product design that is ready for mass production. Your leadership will ensure the implementation of robust core processes and equipment to achieve excellent yields and manufacturing costs.
With your team, you will provide the scientific expertise and engineering know-how necessary to develop world-class processes and successfully support key initiatives such as technology transfers and product care projects. This is a role in a very dynamic environment, offering a unique chance to shape our evolving organization.
Your core responsibilities will include
+ As a leader of leaders, you will guide and develop a high-performing team of approximately 80-100 highly qualified specialists across our Mannheim and Indianapolis sites. You will cultivate a unified, cross-site culture of collaboration, actively leveraging synergies between the locations to drive global innovation and efficiency.
+ You will assume end-to-end accountability for the critical-to-function processes for all products manufactured at NPC Operations, ensuring excellent first-pass yields, optimized technology transfer times, and competitive manufacturing costs.
+ You will ensure scientific expertise is leveraged to thoroughly understand the interaction between process and product. You will empower your team to successfully influence product design and process development at an early stage to ensure readiness for mass production.
+ With your team, you will guarantee the effectiveness of all process equipment and ensure strict adherence to projected plans and objectives (e.g., net capacity of a line).
+ As a key member of the NPC Manufacturing Science and Technology Leadership Team, you will align your unit's activities with our operational expectations and strategic ambitions, reporting directly to the Head of Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT). You will also work in close partnership with other functions across Operations and R&D.
+ You will create a work environment and team culture where exceptional results are fostered and enabled. You will actively drive change initiatives, empowering everyone in your unit to understand, embrace, and champion the transformation.
Who Your are
+ You hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a technical or scientific discipline. You bring at least 10 years of professional experience, ideally in the process development of diagnostic devices.
+ You are a proven "leader of leaders," distinguished by your experience in managing managers across multiple sites within a global organization. You have a clear track record of elevating teams to the next level of performance.
+ You combine rigorous scientific methodology with a passion for delivering projects. Your quick learning ability, outstanding analytical skills, and structured thinking are hallmarks of your approach. With a keen eye for detail, you excel at challenging and redesigning processes, removing obstacles, and driving efficiency.
+ You are business-fluent in English and possess excellent communication skills. As a natural team player, you effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and have a talent for communicating complex topics in a clear and understandable manner.
Location
Mannheim or Indianapolis - Please be aware that the position requires a commitment to spend 30% on business trips.
