Turf Tufting Operators| 2nd & 3rd Shift| Plant T8/T6

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is looking to hire and train Tufting Operators who will play an important role in the Turf manufacturing process. The highly technical process consists of both tufting and coating and produces a differentiated patterned Turf product. In this role, associates will gain diverse work experiences and exposure to multiple areas of manufacturing. We’re looking for individuals who are ambitious, interested in learning various skills, and who enjoy problem solving.

We are currently looking to fill 2nd and 3rd shift openings.

Position Objective: To run a Gantry on the Tufting portion of the Turf continuous line, and creel when necessary

Essential Duties: (Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, and responsibility):

+ Follow all plant safety rules and regulations with respect to your job. These include LOTO, Arc Flash, LTO Safety, PPE and Walkways.

+ Run a Gantry on a continuous line operation that will tuft and coat a field.

+ Small part changes and some light mechanical work

+ Monitor and help maintain the Gantries to ensure the turf is being tufted correctly and in the right pattern.

+ Must be able to follow multiple thread ups and know how to rethread

+ Must be able to work with other machine personnel to ensure the machine is running efficiently.

+ Mark fabric when there is visible evidence that there has been no yarn Tufted into the primary backing in a certain location.

+ Perform backing changes when needed.

+ Creel when necessary

Non Essential Duties: (Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, and responsibility):

+ Perform other non-quality-related duties, as directed by Supervisor/Department Manager

+ Assist R & D with samples and TPR’s.
