As part of the Internal IT Platform Engineering organization, you’ll lead a team focused on enhancing the developer experience through streamlined CI/CD practices and automation. We integrate tools like Jenkins, ArgoCD, GitHub, Artifactory, and Codefresh to accelerate software delivery and reduce manual effort. Our team champions Infrastructure as Code (IaC), self-service environments, and standardized workflows to empower developers and drive continuous improvement.
What will you be doing?
A Team Lead is a leadership role working with software delivery teams and is focused on delivery assurance. You will serve as a player/coach/leader within the IT Platform Engineering organization. You are accountable for delivery and responsible for coaching, mentoring, and managing a mixed team of developers and engineers. You will build and extend relationships with leaders in the business, work closely with Product Owner, Project Manager, Agile Office, Quality Assurance, Architecture, Infrastructure and Security, and Development to grow and support the product and value stream.
This role is an integrator of people and processes, a thought leader, a problem solver, a mentor to direct reports, an effective consultant, and should possess solid domain competency in the field of information technology. This role blends technical leadership with people management, strategic planning, and operational execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Culture
+ Provide functional and technical leadership while promoting WWT’s core values and best practices.
+ Foster a high-performance culture focused on innovation, quality, throughput, and stakeholder engagement.
+ Build shared purposes and targeted goals, inspiring lasting relationships with team members, leaders, and customers.
+ Create an atmosphere of mentoring, diversity, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Team Management & Talent Development
+ Lead a hybrid team of 4–6 technical employees at varying career levels.
+ Hire, onboard, and retain top talent, making decisions on staffing, compensation, promotions, and performance improvement.
+ Manage training budgets and staffing needs (FTEs, contractors, vendors) in collaboration with other leaders.
+ Conduct regular 1-on-1s, provide real-time coaching, and engage in difficult conversations when needed.
+ Align individual career goals with team and organizational objectives, driving toward measurable outcomes (KPIs/OKRs).
+ Celebrate successes and act decisively to correct behaviors when necessary.
Strategic & Operational Execution
+ Contribute to IT strategy development and execution, incorporating business feedback to improve delivery predictability.
+ Coordinate work assignments, balance delivery speed with team capacity, and ensure platform stability and usability.
+ Drive ongoing development and support of new and existing business processes.
+ Lead the design of complex solutions within the product domain, leveraging team expertise and architectural standards.
+ Ensure optimal use of resources—personnel, technology, and vendors—to meet project and operational demands.
Technical Leadership & Escalation
+ Build and deliver software solutions alongside the team, promoting best practices and technical excellence.
+ Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, guiding the team toward effective solutions.
+ Support off-hours remote troubleshooting as needed.
Collaboration & Communication
+ Work closely with stakeholders, product managers, and other development teams to align priorities and solve business challenges.
+ Escalate and remove impediments to maximize team effectiveness.
+ Prepare and deliver presentations to internal teams, departments, and business partners.
+ Serve as a resource for employees and customers, ensuring concerns are heard and resolved.
Vision & Innovation
+ Think beyond day-to-day operations, set milestones and goals to rally support for the team’s vision.
+ Effectively cope with ambiguity and change, fostering an environment of creativity and innovation.
+ Promote the use of modern tools and practices, including Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, and AI integration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ **1–2 years of managing/developing people through coaching and servant leadership**
+ **5+ years of experience with development technologies such as:**
+ **Frontend: Vue, Angular, React**
+ **Backend: JavaScript/NodeJS, Python**
+ **Databases & Messaging: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Solr, RabbitMQ, Oracle**
+ **DevOps Tools: Jenkins, Codefresh, GitHub, Artifactory, ArgoCD**
+ **Passion for Software Development and well-versed in industry trends**
+ **Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.**
+ **Good project management skills**
+ **Comfortable mentoring cross-functional teams and receiving feedback.**
+ **Solid understanding of Agile principles and WWT Core Values.**
+ **Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.**
+ **Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift (preferred).**
+ **Familiarity with AI concepts (LLMs, RAG, Agents) and platforms like GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Microsoft Copilot, or Glean.**
+ **Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.**
+ **Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science; equivalent experience considered.**
Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $109,200.00 to $136,500.00 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.
