Job Description
We are seeking a skilled AV Programmer with a strong background in the audiovisual (AV) engineering and design space. This individual will be responsible for developing, programming, and supporting AV systems across hybrid IP-based environments and new venue build outs. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable designing systems in CAD or similar tools as they are developing user interfaces and control logic for enterprise-level installations.
This role bridges system design, Q-SYS programming, and user interface creation—requiring both technical fluency and creative execution.
Day-to-Day
• System Development & Programming
o Lead the initial file development of AV control and automation systems, primarily using QSC Q-SYS (including Lua-based scripting and JSON integrations).
o Develop and optimize audio and video control logic to integrate with systems such as Powersoft, Visionary Solutions, and other professional AV devices.
o Implement scripting solutions for control and automation, leveraging Lua, JSON, and optionally Python or PowerShell for enhanced system behavior.
• User Interface Design
o Create and program intuitive and visually appealing touch panel interfaces for AV control systems.
o Collaborate with project teams to define user experience (UX) and interaction flow.
o Utilize graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to develop custom UI elements, icons, and layouts.
• System Engineering & Design Support
o Collaborate with engineering teams to draft and document AV system designs, ensuring all schematics and wiring diagrams are accurate and build-ready.
o Work closely with the commissioning and field teams, providing handoffs, documentation, and technical support during deployment and troubleshooting phases.
• System Troubleshooting
o Diagnose and resolve complex AV issues involving signal integrity, synchronization, codec problems, and network latency.
o Support hybrid IP-based broadcast systems (e.g., Ross Video) and ensure reliable integration between devices and protocols.
