GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides oversight for mission and ministry alignment among UCM/AH GLR facilities. Directs the analysis, strategic planning and budget allocations, facilitation of region-wide mission leadership development strategy integrating best practices into each facet of the following areas: Chaplains, Leadership, Communities of faith outreach, Creation Life, mission integration and community health needs assessment.
Represents the region as the mission and ministry leader for the AH Executive Steering Committee. Brings regional needs and opportunities for greater discussion to the corporate steering group. Connects back with the regional CEO to give updates on changes, STIP follow up and MIPR processes. Communicates with chaplain leaders in the region of updates and changes. Leads the training and oversight of Critical Incident Stress Management for our system. Helps local ministry leaders integrate models of spiritual care and support consistent with our overall AH plans.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** **:
The Vice President, Mission/Ministry (VP M/M) is responsible for three (3) strategic areas:
o **Chaplaincy:**
Administers the Chaplaincy/CPE Departments in accordance with system and regulatory guidelines.
Initiates and recommends policies and procedures necessary to achieve objectives for the system to ensure maximum utilization and stability of personnel.
Plans and develops system-wide Ministry programs such as Spiritual Ambassadors, and establishes methods for their installation and operation;
Holds Chaplaincy staff accountable to performance expectations.
Responsible for CPE program, accreditation and performance expectations.
Engages community clergy and congregations in the ministries of AH GLR.
Represents GLR market to the larger community, particularly in faith settings.
Responsible for learning assessment and strategy, program development and delivery, related business operations, and learning partnerships with other organizations.
Monitors the Mission/Ministry function of the health system, as it relates to operational changes and monthly variances.
Plays key role in developing and implementing the culture transition between GLR and AH.

o **Mission Integration:**
Develops common Mission orientation for GLR new hires
Supports Staff re-orientation
Hospital Mission Integration Committee support for
Culture shift Integration, Evaluation, and Sustainability
MIPR Preparation
Division Mission Integration Committee
Develops and coordinates annual Mission Accountabilities for entities within GLR
o **SDA Church:**
Engages with Adventist church locally, Conference, Union and Division level representing interests and vision of GLR.
Represents GLR in NAD Healthcare/Mission meetings and Ethics Forums.
Develops awareness, trust and engagement with GLR SDA churches.
Duties and Responsibilities:
o Chaplains and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE):
Consult and strategy development with CEOs of market facilities as well as alignment with GLR regional mission strategies
Staffing and supporting chaplain leadership at each facility.
Coordinating CPE Program.
Coordinate GLR Chaplains RoundTable
o Mission Integration:
Involved in the planning of New Hire orientation, existing staff re-orientation;
Strategic alignment of Hospital Mission Integration Committees
Culture Shift Integration, Evaluation and Sustainability;
Regional Mission Integration Committee
Lead role in Mission Integration Peer Review Process for entities within GLR in partnership with the Chaplain leadership and CEOs of each hospital in the region.
Coordinate/Lead role in the development of the annual Christian Service Plans for entities within GLR;
Coordinate/Lead role in creating Mission Accountabilities for entities within the GLR;
o SDA Church:
Build strategic connections and trust with local congregations
Engage with Academies
Engage with North American Division on Mission and Health collaborations
Outside of the SDA church, develop connections with the GLR AdventHealth market faith communities
Explore mission outreach opportunities for the GLR
o AH Interface:
Responsible for strategy, coordination and implementation of the AH Imperatives related to Mission and Ministry in conjunction with mission leadership and hospital leadership;
Develop, coordinate, and implement the mechanisms needed to provide Spiritual Care in the Outpatient setting throughout the GLR
Strategic oversight and coordination for the use of CreationLife within the GLR.
o Community Benefit:
Conducts periodic Community Needs Assessment of each community within the Southeast Region;
Responsible for oversight and development of a Community Need/Benefit Plan to comply with Federal Government Regulations for each facility in the GLR;
Responsible for achievement of each Community Benefit Plan;
Responsible for the direct supervision of the staff within the Community Benefit Department (Director and Coordinator).
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Meets AHs mission-related qualifications for senior executive leadership as specified in Corporate Executive policy (CEX114 as approved).
VP M/M position requires an ordained/equivalent SDA clergy person of seasoned leadership experience in education, organizational dynamics and spiritual formation.
Strong critical thinking, speaking and writing skills.
Competent and consistent in exemplifying the values, mission and vision of AH and the SDA Church.
Leadership and educational experience must include applied knowledge in executive management and planning, group dynamics, organization development, change management, business partnering and community engagement.
Ideal candidate will have executive leadership experience in each of these areas and will be able to build strong constituent and stakeholder relationships in the faith community and specifically within the SDA community.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Masters level education in related fields (Doctorate preferred);
Ordination or equivalent credentials to the SDA pastoral ministry
At least four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education training provided by ACPE;
_EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED:_
Seven years of experience in a senior position in large institutional settings (education, healthcare, denominational) with responsibilities consistent with those of this position.
Planning, assessing, developing and executing programmatic initiatives that accomplish the organizational goals.
Partnering with community entities of varying types and sizes.
Providing effective leadership internally and externally to related constituent groups
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Ordination/equivalency to the ministry of the SDA Church
