    Job Description Summary

    The Lead CMC Manufacturing Engineer will be a process owner for non-conventional machining methods including EDM, Laser drilling, and Laser Ablation. The process owner will be responsible for analyzing process performances, developing continuous improvement actions, implementing these improvements through rigorous change management validation, and enabling our operations team to own and operate the process. The process Engineer will collaborate with other process engineers, cross functional support teams, and internal customers to drive operational excellence focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

    Job Description

    Duties and Responsibilities:​

    + Develop machining programs using G&M Code, C++, and/or C-Sharp

    + Read and understand prints/drawings and have an advanced knowledge of GD&T.

    + Develop planning, processes, and work instructions.

    + Troubleshoot & prove-out processes and programs, direct process validation activities, and validate work using multiple techniques.

    + Develop necessary tooling directly and through collaboration with both internal and external partners.

    + Work autonomously as well as collaboratively in identifying needs and validation plans. Providing proactive support to meet manufacturing requirements.

    + Performs other duties as assigned to support manufacturing processes in the metrology space.

    + Follow system standards to development, implementation, and change management of metrology processes.

    Lead with Humility:

    + Translation of technical processes and methods to train and empower operators and technicians in the manufacturing techniques required for greatest yield effectiveness & equipment capability.

    + Act seamlessly as Manufacturing Engineer and/or Process Engineer in areas of assignment and/or responsibility.

    + Establish baseline operations / operational parameters, manage recipes, establish process capability, and drive process capability enhancements.

    + Diligently pursue continuous improvement in tooling, equipment, training, error-proofing, and application of improved processes, methods, and/or technologies

    Act with Transparency:

    + Lead problem solving through the application of structured problem solving in a collaborative team environment.

    + Work in collaboration with various levels of business partners, stakeholders & peers from the business unit(s) to ensure effective upstream & downstream interactions and/or impacts.

    + Ownership and Presentation to internal teams on metrics, project status, and team priorities

    + Support shop floor to deliver business results while encouraging insight and input from area personnel working within a self-directed workforce (Teaming) environment.

    + Promote internal and external customer satisfaction and develop positive design engineering relationships.

    + Organize and coordinate projects within the GE management of change processes.

    Deliver with Focus:

    + Develop, Define, implement, & control production process(es) including tooling, equipment, methods, and/or process effectiveness for assigned areas of responsibility and/or ownership.

    + Own identification and management / delivery of plant, equipment, process, and method projects / initiatives to drive continued optimization of product line.

    + Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product(s), tools, equipment, processes and/or methods.

    + Exhibit ownership and take responsibility in attaining all aspects of production operation including safety, scheduling, quality, delivery and team development in assigned areas.

    + Willingness to work off-shift, respond to off-hours / on call / as needed in order to respond to equipment / process breakdown, issues, to minimize production disruption and ensure maximum equipment and process effectiveness.

    Required Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years CNC Machining or automated Assembly and test experience)

    + Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience

    Desired Characteristics

    + Strong mathematical, analytical, writing, and communication skills

    + Knowledge/experience programming 3,4, & 5 axis CNC, Laser machining, EDM machining and/or complex automated assembly and test processes

    + Programming or scripting experience (G&M Code, C++, C Sharp, Python, etc.)

    + Experience with point cloud-based inspection using GOM Hardware and GOM Inspect software

    + Strong knowledge of GD&T and how to apply GD&T to inspection routines to satisfy print dimensions

    + Self-starter – quick learner & able to identify alternative solutions for optimum results

    + Experience in application of structured problem solving in continuous improvement

    + Previous high-volume manufacturing shop experience in Metrology / Inspection discipline

    + Strong collaboration & presentation skills in order to gain buy-in & effectively communicate program/process implementations and changes to the organization
