    Job Summary

    The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is home to three degree offerings: a Doctor of Physical Therapy ( DPT ), a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences, and a Master in Athletic Training. The Doctor of Physical Therapy program has three pathways: Salt Lake City residential; St. George residential; and Hybrid, which allows students to earn their degree from anywhere in Utah and across the nation. The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is located within the College of Health and is part of the University of Utah Health Sciences Center. The Student Success Advisor supports the coordination and delivery of a comprehensive strategy for supporting students in the DPT Hybrid Pathway. Critical responsibilities for this position include providing individualized academic and personal support to incoming and continuing DPT students; initiating the development of supplemental curriculum and department programming to support student academic and personal success; contributing to ongoing policy development to support the DPT program; initiating early interventions and sending academic standards communication; tracking and documenting challenges students are facing in their academic journey; and collaborating with others to promote the success of students in the Hybrid Pathway.

     

    This position will work a primarily remote schedule. Distance applicants will be considered; travel to campus will be required.

    Responsibilities

    1. Assist in case management of ~225 Hybrid Pathway Doctor of Physical Therapy students across three cohort years, providing individualized academic and personal support to ensure student retention and success.

    2. Assist with delivery of Student Success Workshops and other programming to motivate, encourage, mentor, and teach students how to navigate professional health education.

    3. Provide in-person support during Hybrid Lab Immersions; assist with planning and execution of immersion activities

    4. Participate in regular development and interpretation of department policies to ensure compliance with the University’s policies and regulatory requirements while ensuring focus on student success.

    5. Advise and support student requests for alternative curricular plans, personal leaves of absence, and program withdrawal and discontinuation. Create and update all related documentation.

    6. Support Academic Standards for Hybrid students. May inform students of probation, changes to degree progress, and leaves of absence and help facilitate academic recovery programming and coaching; will create and update all related documentation.

    7. Collaborate with Admissions to support new student onboarding.

    8. Assist with initial student onboarding to clinical education software Exxat; support initial compliance review.

    9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of U of U student services and policies including but not limited to admissions, registration, financial aid and wellness, basic needs, counseling and wellness, etc.

    10. Help coordinate and plan events including new student Open Houses, information sessions, DPT orientation, and department graduation ceremony.

    11. Ensure all administrative tasks are completed for student records up to student graduation

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

     

    4 years’ of related experience.

     

    Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills
