    The Contract Specialist (Legal) is responsible for negotiating downstream contracts in adherence with company and client requirements. This position sits within the legal department and this individual will work closely with the legal, insurance, risk, procurement, IT, and project teams. This will be an in-office position located in our World Headquarters in Kansas City. Primary Responsibilities:

     

    + Assist procurement and management teams with negotiation of the legal articles within our Corporate Procurement Agreements, including Software/IT Procurements, Consulting Agreements, Event Contracts, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Corporate Facility Contracts, and others. Negotiations will take place via different methods - exchanging documents, conference calls, and face-to face meetings.

    + This position may also assist project teams with negotiation of the legal articles on project-related contracts within the following agreements: Subcontracts, Purchase Orders (engineered equipment and commodities), Engineering Services, Geotech Services, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and others.

    + Ensure that negotiated terms and conditions comply with company policies and risk profile.

    + Assist project teams with drafting of formal notices to suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants.

    + Liaison between project teams and attorneys on complex issues.

    + Other duties as assigned by the Contracts Department Manager and legal department. Such duties may include: reviewing additional agreement types, supporting claims, reviewing project flowdowns, drafting formal contract notices to clients, reviewing and drafting corporate templates, legal research, etc.

    + Minimal travel anticipated.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction, Law or related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

    + A minimum of 3-5 years of contract negotiation experience.

    + Experience negotiating IT/Software Agreements is advantageous.

    + Good understanding of legal principals and commercial terms and conditions.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and proven negotiation skills.

    + Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and perform on multiple negotiations at the same time

    + Self-starter that works well independently and as part of a team.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office.
