Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Join the primetime team behind Top Story with Tom Llamas on NBC News NOW. We’re looking for a newsroom leader with exceptional producing skills and sharp editorial judgment to drive high‑quality, day‑of‑air package production under intense deadlines.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll guide a team of producers, associate producers, and production assistants in building fast-paced, visually compelling pieces and segments. You’ll help them navigate production from pitch through edit.

Responsibilities

+ Identify, vet, and shape timely, compelling stories that can turn fast for same‑day air.

+ Lead a team of Producers, Associate Producers, and Production Assistants—providing clear direction, hands‑on edit guidance, and steady leadership when news is breaking

+ Surface the strongest elements for each story—if it pops, you find it and secure it

+ Elevate scripts through smart rewrites and thoughtful structure

+ Troubleshoot last‑minute edit issues and keep packages moving to air

+ Set the editorial approach and clearly communicate how each piece should come together

+ Coordinate closely with reporters and producers across NBC News platforms

+ Mentor early‑career staff on writing, editing, and news judgment to help them grow

+ Pinpoint the right angles for reporter assignments

+ Jump into the control room as needed

Basic Qualifications

+ Minimum 6 years of experience in live television news

+ Advanced proficiency in Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro

+ Outstanding writing and script‑editing skills

+ Strong editorial judgment and proven ability to make calls under pressure

+ Deep understanding of visual storytelling and segment production

+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

+ Experience leading and mentoring teams across varying levels of experience

+ Ability to successfully work in a highly collaborative team-oriented environment

+ Willingness to work on‑site in New York, NY

Additional Requirements:

• Required On-Site: This position is required to be

performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

range: $125,000 - $170,000
