Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty (PenFed Realty), a wholly owned subsidiary of PenFed Credit Union (PenFed), is hiring a (Remote) Commissions & General Accounting Specialist that resides within the DMV area. The primary purpose of this job is to participate in all activities associated with Commissions and Accounts Payable/Receivable processing as they relate to commissions processing. Daily tasks may including receiving commission payments, paying outside brokers when applicable, paying PFR agents their portion of the commission based on their independent contractor agreement, reviewing transactions’ data for accuracy prior to processing, ensuring all required transaction documents are properly approved by the appropriate broker, processing other non-commission payments to agents and completing other Commissions help ticket requests. This position will also serve as a subject matter expert for commissions processing.

+ Participate in the completion of the department’s workload as it relates to commissions and AR processing with general supervision from the Commissions & AR Supervisor. Those areas of responsibility may include the following tasks and is not intended to be a complete list:
+ Commissions Processing
+ Record commissions receipts to transactions’ subledgers
+ Review commissions that are submitted as ready to pay for required documents, broker approvals and complete accuracy
+ Communicate required corrections to the submitting office.
+ Pay outside brokers’ referrals from PFR’s commissions
+ Pay Agents their net commissions
+ “Fall Through” transactions that do not close
+ Answer offices’ questions about prior transactions & transactions in process
+ Pay agent bonuses and contract work
+ Follow up with offices on transactions past their settlement dates
+ Respond to all other Commissions help tickets
+ The incumbent may temporarily assist with other departmental recurring tasks as directed by management in order to maximize team efficiency, promote departmental cross training and increase PTO coverage capabilities. Those other areas of responsibility may include the following and is not intended to be a complete list:
+ Agent billing – collecting Agents’ billing receivable balances
+ Bank account reconcilations
+ Posting cash receipts
+ Other general ledger accounts reconciliations
Qualifications
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
+ Associates Degree in Business field preferred or a combination of job experience in the areas of real estate, accounting and or finance as well as the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.
+ Minimum of two (2) years in related work experience required in a professional business environment, with real estate experience preferred.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office based programs required.
+ Advanced Excel skills including, but not limited to Pivot Tables.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will not supervise employees.
Licenses and Certifications
There are no additional licenses and/or certifications required for this position.
Work Environment
Currently this position is performed remotely. That status will be evaluated periodically.
Travel
Limited travel to various worksites may be required.
