Description
The Lead Preschool Teacher at the Emory Autism Center (EAC) organizes and conducts day-to-day educational activities for children ages 12 months to 5 years of age, to children with and without autism spectrum disorder in an inclusive preschool classroom.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Working with the program coordinator, develops appropriate curriculum for the classroom.
+ Creates, organizes and provides educational activities and support to promote language, social, and adaptive behavior development.
+ Supervises teaching staff in developing and implementing activity, preparation, set-up and clean-up as well as classroom environmental set-up.
+ Monitors child activity and behavior within the classroom.
+ Ensures compliance with state, university, and practice policies and procedures for all staff.
+ Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, special education, behavioral science, or related field preferred and three years of experience working with in early childhood education.
+ Must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation and pass a background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.Proven experience in a preschool setting or similar early childhood education environment.
+ Experience working with children with autism.
+ Strong knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
+ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
+ Ability to lead and motivate a team of assistant teachers.
+ Understanding of various teaching methodologies and the ability to adapt them to meet individual learning needs.
