Position Overview:
As a Director of Clinical Learning at Galen College of Nursing, you will provide leadership in the implementation and evaluation of standardized clinical education, clinical learning lab experiences, simulation-based learning, and clinical experiences on assigned campuses. This role ensures high-quality, evidence-based, and regulatory-compliant clinical and simulation-based learning experiences that supports student success and prepares graduates for transition to practice. In alignment with Galen’s mission, vision, and values, this position collaborates with staff, faculty, academic leaders, and external partners to advance clinical education.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provides leadership for the implementation of clinical education, simulation, and clinical learning lab curricula to achieve student learning outcomes.
2. Leads the implementation of learning technologies in simulation and clinical learning labs on assigned campuses to enhance student learning.
3. Ensures alignment of clinical education with standardized curricula, professional nursing standards, accreditation requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
4. Implements, and oversees clinical education policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory, accrediting, and college guidelines.
5. Provides oversight for clinical experiences to ensure adherence to governing body guidelines and alignment with course and program learning outcomes.
6. Oversees clinical contract documentation to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards.
7. Leads the implementation of standardized simulation-based and clinical learning lab experiences in alignment with the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSOBP).
8. Establishes and maintains standardized supply formularies, par systems, and equipment maintenance protocols to support high-quality learning experiences in CLL and simulation laboratories.
9. Ensures continuous improvement of simulation and clinical learning labs based on evaluation data.
10. Oversees the development and maintenance of relationships with clinical partners to ensure high-quality clinical placements that support student learning.
11. Collaborates with campus leadership to evaluate and optimize clinical placements according to educational needs and partner requirements.
12. Provides leadership in new campus openings and establishment of clinical site partners.
13. Oversees the orientation, training, and ongoing professional development of leaders, faculty, and staff of the campus clinical, CLL, and simulation teams.
14. Oversees the implementation of standardized evaluation processes to assess faculty effectiveness in clinical, CLL, and simulation education.
15. Participates in scholarly activities related to clinical education, simulation, and innovative teaching practices.
16. Contributes to evidence-based improvements in clinical education through research, evaluation, and dissemination of best practices.
17. Leads initiatives to assess and enhance clinical learning experiences based on student, faculty, and partner feedback.
18. Provides leadership for budgeting and resource allocation related to clinical education, simulation, and clinical learning lab operations.
19. Identifies cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality learning experiences.
20. Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Education:
+ Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution required.
+ Doctorate (PhD, EdD, or DNP) preferred.
+ Certification as CHSE, CNE, CNEcl preferred or on hire.
Licensure:
+ Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state.
Experience:
+ Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
+ Minimum of two (2) years of experience in clinical education, simulation, or clinical learning lab leadership.
+ Previous director-level leadership in clinical education or simulation preferred.
Special Qualifications:
+ Expertise in simulation-based education and clinical learning methodologies.
+ Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.
+ Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards in nursing education.
+ Effective communication and collaboration skills with diverse stakeholders.
+ Ability to utilize technology, data analysis, and learning management systems to support clinical education.
+ Commitment to continuous quality improvement and innovation in nursing education.
+ Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:
+ Requires critical thinking, planning, evaluating, and decision-making.
+ Sedentary work with occasional lifting (minimum 25 pounds).
+ Frequent use of standard office and simulation lab equipment.
+ Must live within assigned region.
+ Travel up to 75% within assigned region as required.
