The Automated Enforcement Unit (AEU) manages red light, bus lane, speed, and Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) enforcement for the Department of Transportation. As part of the Mayor’s Vision Zero Initiative, the unit processes violations like red light running, speeding, overweight vehicles, and unauthorized bus lanes used citywide. Recent legislative changes will enable rapid program expansion, and the unit is seeking a Deputy Processing Manager to assist the Senior Processing Manager in managing the team that reviews events from automated enforcement cameras and processes valid cases into Notices of Liability (NOLs). The Deputy Processing Manager will directly supervise nine processing supervisors ensuring that the supervisors and their Camera Technicians receive the training, guidance, and support needed to process events accurately and in accordance with standard operating procedures, related guidelines, and legislative mandates. Key responsibilities include working with supervisors on error identification and corrective measures, translating guidance from the Senior Processing Manager and interagency discussions into clear staff instructions to ensure the correct processing of Notice of Liability (NOLs). The Deputy will assist the Senior Processing Manager in coordination with other city agencies such as the Department of Finance (DOF) and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).
