    Trinity Health in Grand Rapids is searching for the best and brightest to join our team! Come join our team and we will provide you with on-the-job training for: Multi-Purpose Cook in Grand Rapids on 1st or 2nd shift.

     

    + Multi-Purpose cook (full time and part time, 1st and 2nd shift available)

    Position Summary:

    A hospital multi-cook prepares food for patients and staff, following specific dietary needs and safety standards. Key responsibilities include cooking menu items according to standardized recipes, ensuring proper temperature and portion control, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and operating equipment safely. The role also involves assisting with inventory, record-keeping, and complying with food safety regulations like HACCP .

    What will you do:

    + **Food preparation:** Prepare a variety of meals, including regular and therapeutic diets, according to standardized recipes, portion control, and established instructions.

    + **Safety and sanitation:** Follow all food safety regulations, including HACCP , and maintain a high level of cleanliness in all kitchen areas to comply with hospital, state, and Joint Commission standards.

    + **Equipment operation:** Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

    + **Meal service:** Ensure food is served at the correct temperature and presented attractively, adhering to established procedures for service and delivery.

    + **Inventory and ordering:** Assist with ordering and receiving food and supplies, and ensure proper storage and rotation of food items.

    + **Record keeping:** Maintain accurate records of food prepared, served, and discarded, and complete any other required documentation.

    + **Compliance:** Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation guidelines, and follow instructions from supervisors.

    + **Teamwork:** Collaborate with other kitchen staff, dietary staff, and hospital administrators to ensure smooth operations.

    What you will need:

    Education

    + Required: High School Diploma or GED

    + Preferred: Formal Culinary Training,

    Credentials/Licensure

    + Required: Serve Safe Certified or obtain Certification within 6 months of hire

    + Preferred: Current Serve Safe Certified

    Related Experience

    + Required: One year restaurant/institution cooking, one year of retail store cashing, or one year as Mercy ​Health FANS colleague.

    + Preferred: Previous large volume cooking experience.
