Description
The Department of Geography in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor whose research advances energy and environment geography . We seek applicants whose focus is on the geography of energy transitions or additions, processes of re- and decarbonization, or political ecologies of fossil and renewable energy systems, among other topics. This position will support our B.S. degree programs in Geography and Geographic Information Science and Technology, M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs in Geography, the online Master's of Geoscience program, the B.S. degrees in our college-level Environmental Programs, and a graduate certificate program in Geospatial Intelligence.
This is a nine-month full-time annual appointment with an anticipated start date of August 2026.
In addition to research expectations, the successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise graduate students. Faculty are also expected to participate in appropriate disciplinary service and contribute to departmental and university committees.
The Department of Geography ( artsci.tamu.edu/geography ) has twenty-eight faculty members with strengths in biogeography, climatology, geographic information science and technology (GIST), geomorphology, human geography, and human-environment relationships. We are one of eighteen departments in the College of Arts & Sciences ( http://artsci.tamu.edu ).

Qualifications
Required:
+ Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Geography or related field.
+ The successful candidate must have a proven research record and a strong commitment to education and professionalization of undergraduate and graduate students and
+ must have demonstrated potential for excellence in research with a record of scholarly publications.
+ We also expect that successful candidates will have experience in or demonstrated potential for securing external research funding.
Preference:
+ Professional experience in energy-related government and industry is preferred but not required.
+ Candidates should be student-focused and dedicated to providing high-quality education for a range of students.
