    Position Overview

    The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering and testing projects that support sustainable infrastructure and environmental solutions. This role ensures that all project activities are

     

    completed on time, within scope, and aligned with client and regulatory expectations. The Project Manager works closely with technical staff, field personnel, and clients to deliver high-quality results, manage budgets, and

     

    support operational excellence across the environmental and construction materials testing projects.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead and manage geotechnical projects from proposal through completion, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met.

    + Develop project estimates, proposals, and scopes of work in collaboration with technical and business development teams.

    + Coordinate and assign resources, including field technicians, drill crews, and support staff, to meet project requirements efficiently.

    + Obtain drilling permits and coordinate with utility locating services to ensure safe and compliant field operations.

    + Supervise and support field activities, including test borings, sampling, and construction materials testing.

    + Perform or assist with soil classification, data analysis, and preparation of boring logs, reports, and related technical documentation.

    + Provide technical oversight to ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI, ICC), project specifications, and industry best practices.

    + Manage and oversee deep foundation testing and installation, including pile load tests, driven piles, auger-cast piles, and vibro-replacement projects.

    + Supervise vibration monitoring operations and conduct pre-construction condition surveys of nearby structures.

    + Maintain clear communication with clients to manage expectations, address issues, and ensure satisfaction.

    + Track and manage project financial performance, including cost control, invoicing, and profitability analysis.

    + Collaborate with internal departments (Engineering, CMT, Laboratory, and Safety) to ensure effective implementation of geotechnical recommendations during construction.

    + Support employee development through mentorship, training, and performance feedback; assist with hiring and onboarding as needed.

    + Promote and enforce company safety protocols and regulatory compliance across all project activities.

    + Identify add-on or follow-up work opportunities through strong client engagement and field visibility.

    + Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

    + Attend project and client meetings to present findings, recommendations, and design options.

    + Other duties may be assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline; OR

     

    equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

     

    • For non-degreed candidates: 7–10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, environmental

     

    consulting, or construction materials testing (CMT) and inspection.

     

    • Certifications in relevant inspection or testing areas preferred (e.g., ACI, ICC, ATTI, Nuclear Safety).

    • Strong knowledge of construction materials testing standards (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.) and ability to

    interpret technical specifications

    • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-specific platforms (e.g., project management, data reporting

     

    systems).

     

    • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills

    • Willingness to travel to job sites and work in diverse environmental conditions

    • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and interface with clients and regulatory

     

    bodies effectively

    Travel Requirements

    • This position requires occasional travel, 60% of the time, to support business

     

    objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on

     

    project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may

     

    be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and

     

    use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.

    Physical Demands & Work Environment

    + This position operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring flexibility to work effectively from both aprofessional office and work site setting.

    + On-Site Office Requirements:

    + Work is performed at a desk for extended periods using a computer, phone, and standard officeequipment in a climate-controlled office environment.

    + Regular in-person communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders is required.

    + Physical demands may include sitting for long durations, occasional standing, walking, bending,and lifting of materials up to 15 pounds.

    + Field Environment:

    + Work at outdoor sites including wetlands, forests, grasslands, construction zones, andundeveloped land.

    + Travel on foot across uneven, rugged, or obstructed terrain, sometimes in areas inaccessible byvehicle.

    + Exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, humidity, rain, or sun.

    + Possible presence of insects, animals, or natural and man-made hazards in field environments.

    + Physical Requirements:

    + Ability to lift and carry between 35–75 lbs. of equipment or samples over distances up to 75 feet.

    + Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate lab and field equipment for extended periods.

    + Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, climb, and balance as needed during both lab andfieldwork.

    + Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats in varied environments,often while wearing PPE.

    + Ability to use sensory capabilities to see (including close and distant vision, color perception,depth perception, and focus) and smell for observation and safety purposes
