    Schedule: Monday - Friday 7a-3:30p

     

    No nights, holidays, weekends or call!

    This position will support our Electrophysiology, Interventional Radiology and Cardiovascular Lab departments

    The Electrophysiology Department offers state of the art technology consisting of 2 labs and 1 procedure room. The procedures include tilt table testing, implantation of loop recorders, pacemakers and internal cardiac defibrillators, electrophysiology studies with cryoablation and/or ablation utilizing different mapping systems.

     

    The Interventional Radiology Department is a four-room suite providing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to patients in all medical imaging areas including diagnostic x-ray, nuclear medicine, MRI, ultrasound and CT scan.

     

    Our Cardiovascular Lab is a five-procedure room suite providing invasive cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures, structured heart procedures with PFO/ASD closures, myocardial ablations and peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventions including carotid stenting. In addition, we perform surgical procedures including pacemaker insertions, ICD insertions, generator changes, transcatheter aortic valve replacement and mitral clips. Working with a team of credentialed invasive cardiologists and vascular surgeons, we provide scheduled inpatient and outpatient procedures Monday - Friday and emergent procedures on a 24-hour basis. Our highly trained nurses provide comprehensive interdisciplinary care from admission to discharge.

    What you will do:

    Under the direction and supervision of providers and registered nurses in the procedural settings:

    + Complete preparatory anesthesia related assigned tasks, in order to commence procedures

    + Peripheral intravenous (PIV) access initiation

    + Set up equipment and solutions for infusion through venous access device(s)

    + Complete blood draws via peripheral venous access

    + Scrub non-anesthesia cases

    + Manage and administer medications within the New York state Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) scope of practice

    + Preparation of anesthesia related sterile field(s)

    + Complete procedural room turn over tasks related to anesthesia supplies and equipment. Proper cleaning of medical devices per AAMI standards and environment per DOH/OSHA standards

    + Maintain anesthesia equipment within the service

    + Maintain anesthesia stock and inventory, completes supply ordering processes.

    + Collaborative team approach: with interdisciplinary team of registered nurses, medical social work, care managers, nutrition, Rehab services, spiritual care and pharmacy.

    Responsibilities:

    + Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice.

    + The Nurse Practice Act defines the practice of a LPN as "performing tasks and responsibilities within the framework of case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive and restorative care under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed physician, dentist, or other licensed health care provider legally authorized under this title and in accordance with the commissioner's regulations."

    + Utilizing the Nursing Process is involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.

    Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

    + Graduation from an accredited school for Licensed Practical Nursing and current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York.

    + Maintains current BLS/CPR.

    + Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

    Work Environment and Hazards:

    + Clinical setting. Exposure Class I

    Physical Demands:

    + Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.

     

    Pay Range: $25.50 - $35.70

     

    Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
