Metallurgist:
Prime Responsibilities & Key Performance Areas
+ Develop and implement metallurgical processes, controls, and improvements to support product development and maintenance
+ Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to ensure compliance with customer specifications and generate detailed technical reports
+ Manage metallography laboratory personnel and oversee daily lab operations
+ Provide technical support to the metallography lab, including equipment use, test methods, and interpretation of results
+ Support Operations with:
+ New parts qualification
+ Periodic cut-up evaluations
+ Review of customer technical and quality specifications
+ Creation of manufacturing procedures
+ Failure investigations
+ Cost reduction initiatives in coordination with die engineering and sales
+ Recommend and implement process improvements and standardization initiatives
+ Align product development with customer and product requirements to deliver cost-effective, robust solutions
+ Transition new products and processes into full-scale manufacturing
+ Investigate, evaluate, and implement new or improved manufacturing technologies and methodologies
+ Serve as the technical expert and single point of contact for material science-related inquiries across production and customer support
+ Communicate and collaborate with customers, suppliers, engineers, production personnel, and management
+ Act as technical spokesperson for casting, alloy selection, heat treatment, resonant inspection, NDT, part failure analysis, and resolution of material specification conflicts
+ Monitor internal and external technologies to identify opportunities or threats to existing products and processes
+ Maintain accurate records to validate past actions and support intellectual property protection
Additional Responsibilities
+ Perform other duties as assigned
+ Ensure compliance with the Company’s Code of Conduct in all operations
+ Assist in solving technical problems as they arise
+ Coordinate with customers on component testing to determine failure modes and effects
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Engineering
+ Minimum of 7 years of technical experience working with specialty alloys
+ Proven ability to apply metallurgical and materials science principles in a manufacturing setting
+ Experience leading the implementation of new process technologies and bridging R&D with production
+ Strong knowledge of metallurgical standards, methods, practices, and equipment
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Proficient in data analysis, applied statistics, process control, and measurement system analysis (MSA/R&R)
+ Creative and strategic thinker capable of developing innovative solutions to improve performance and yield
+ Familiarity with continuous improvement tools, including Kaizen, synchronous manufacturing, and Six Sigma
+ Skilled in mechanical testing and metallographic procedures
+ Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities; highly organized and adept at setting priorities
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software tools
+ Adaptable and flexible when addressing production or development challenges
+ Able to interpret and apply complex technical specifications and engineering drawingsBase pay of $100k-$120k plus bonus and relocation if applicable. Full benefits including medical, dental and vision. 401k match too.
**Pay Details:** $100,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year
