Job Description
The Electrical Engineer III position is an integral part of the Substation Design (TEEC) organization. The role involves developing technical electrical designs and standards for substation projects, such as reactor groups, capacitor groups, station service overhauls, power transformer replacements, and more. The position requires collaboration with various teams and stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of high voltage substation projects.
Responsibilities
+ Serve as an Electrical Design Engineer on multiple projects, providing expert electrical design engineering guidance.
+ Receive and review preliminary project documentation and obtain project Work Orders as per established processes.
+ Collaborate with Project Managers to set design due dates and address any schedule changes.
+ Verify complete and accurate documentation on project SharePoint sites, escalating any concerns as needed.
+ Arrange, coordinate, and facilitate multiple project-related meetings including project kick-off meetings.
+ Provide technical input, options, and recommendations to facilitate project decision-making.
+ Facilitate site visits for the project design team and coordinate logistics.
+ Draft project documents, presentations, and communications, ensuring timely distribution.
+ Create technical electrical designs and standards for substation projects.
+ Review and comment on technical electrical designs submitted by engineering firms.
+ Interact and collaborate with external stakeholders, navigating complex business relationships.
+ Verify Project Requirement Diagrams and necessary planning information for project designs.
+ Coordinate and facilitate planning and organization of substation design projects.
+ Serve as technical liaison during both design and construction phases.
+ Coordinate with internal and external technicians to facilitate design specifications and completed designs on schedule.
+ Make recommendations on the application of relevant electrical codes to substation work.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
+ 10 years of experience in engineering design development, particularly with high voltage substation, telecommunication, or high voltage transmission line systems.
+ 3 years of working knowledge of high voltage systems, system control, communications, and relay planning.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with the National Electrical Code, the National Electrical Safety Code, and NERC CIP.
+ Strong quantitative analytical skills to model and analyze the effects of Substation Design strategies.
Work Environment
The work is primarily in a slower-paced office environment with somewhat flexible hours. The position involves a business casual dress code and requires independent work style with minimal supervision. The role is deadline-driven and involves waiting on others for approvals and paperwork at times.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, Washington.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $70.00/hr.
