    Job Title: Energy AuditorJob Description

     

    As an Energy Auditor, you will perform on-site inspections of HVAC systems, lighting, and building envelope components to assess energy efficiency opportunities and ensure compliance with program standards. You will conduct diagnostic testing such as blower door tests and combustion analysis for residential and multifamily buildings. Additionally, you will verify the quality and completion of contractor-installed energy efficiency measures, document findings, and enforce safety and quality standards. Developing and submitting detailed energy audit reports and scopes of work to support utility energy efficiency and weatherization programs will also be part of your responsibilities.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform on-site inspections of HVAC systems, lighting, and building envelope components.

    + Conduct diagnostic testing such as blower door tests and combustion analysis.

    + Verify quality and completion of contractor-installed energy efficiency measures.

    + Document findings and enforce safety and quality standards.

    + Develop and submit detailed energy audit reports and scopes of work.

    + Serve as a liaison between contractors, property owners, and internal teams.

    + Maintain accurate site inspection documentation and client records.

    + Travel to project sites across the NYC metro area, with some evening or weekend availability required.

    + Stay current on building codes, energy efficiency technologies, and program requirements.

    Essential Skills

    + 1+ years of experience performing field inspections in the HVAC and energy efficiency space.

    + Experience with multifamily and commercial building projects.

    + Proficiency in conducting site visits and inspections.

    + Strong communication skills with property managers, tenants, and internal teams.

    + Familiarity with building systems, including HVAC, envelope, and lighting.

    + Experience in diagnostic testing and data collection processes.

    + Comfortable accessing attics, basements, and crawlspaces during inspections.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Understanding of utility energy efficiency program operations.

    + OSHA 10 certification or actively pursuing certification.

    + Valid driver's license with reliable transportation for local site visits.

    + Strong with all forms of technology including Webex, Excel, and iPhone features.

    + Strong documentation skills.

    Work Environment

    This role requires daily on-site presence, with some weekend availability. You will travel to project sites across the NYC metro area and will need to be comfortable working in various conditions, including attics, basements, and crawlspaces. The position offers unlimited PTO/Sick time, providing flexibility and work-life balance.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, New York.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
