Job Description
Seeking a dedicated Blood Bank Technologist to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on specimens within our clinical laboratory. The ideal candidate will have experience working in blood banks and will be responsible for working in hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and spinal counts.
Responsibilities
+ Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on all specimens received in the laboratory for the assigned station.
+ Understand the principles of tests performed and maintain working knowledge of the equipment used.
+ Work in hematology, responsible for urinalysis, coagulation, and spinal counts.
+ Ensure that all specimens are put in appropriate storage.
+ Follow all quality control policies and procedures to ensure reliable patient results.
+ Recognize critical or life-threatening results, verify results, and report to the appropriate clinician.
+ Document all results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Essential Skills
+ NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or valid permit issued by NYSDOE Clinical Laboratory to Technology.
+ Experience in a clinical blood bank.
+ Willingness to work the overnight shift (12am-8am).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ ASCP certification is preferred but not required.
+ Experience with medical laboratory technology and urinalysis.
Work Environment
The position requires working the overnight shift from 12am to 8am, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends. Initial training will occur on the morning/day shift for the first 4-6 weeks. The full work week comprises 35 hours, with 8-hour shifts minus a 1-hour lunch/break. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $58.00/hr.
