Description We are looking for a dedicated and meticulous Payroll Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will oversee critical payroll functions for a workforce operating across multiple states, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. This position offers an opportunity to contribute your expertise in payroll while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately input payroll data for employees, ensuring all information is precise and up-to-date.

• Process electronic direct deposits and prepare printed checks for applicable employees.

• Administer payroll for union and non-union employees, adhering to specific agreements and regulations.

• Manage payroll for salaried, hourly, and commissioned employees, including quarterly commission processing.

• Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll laws and regulations across three states.

• Handle payroll tax filings and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

• Maintain strict confidentiality and security of employee payroll data.

• Utilize downtime to proactively assist with additional tasks or projects as needed.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient payroll operations.

• Stay current on payroll-related policies, laws, and best practices to improve processes. Requirements • Proficiency in Viewpoint Vista payroll software and a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel.

• Previous experience managing payroll, including multi-state and union payroll.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in all payroll processes.

• Ability to follow established procedures while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.

• Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and filing requirements.

• Problem-solving skills and initiative to identify and address additional tasks during slower periods.

• Experience processing payroll for medium-sized employee groups (80-100 employees).

• Familiarity with bi-weekly payroll cycles and reconciliation processes.
