    Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team and contribute to the assembly of compressors, blowers, and vacuum pumps. You will be responsible for fitting and aligning machined parts, assembling mechanical components, and performing tests to ensure product performance.

    Responsibilities

    + Fit and align machined parts such as bearings, diaphragms, impeller wheels, blower casings, shafts, and gear cages using hand tools, power drills, and portable gas heating equipment.

    + Scrape bearings to fit shafts using hand scrapers, blue chalk, and abrasive paper.

    + Screw and bolt together mechanical parts like gears, vanes, needle bearings, and ring gear to assemble the gear cage assembly.

    + Shrink impeller wheels, sleeves, spacers, and balance pistons onto the shaft to form a spindle using portable gas heating equipment.

    + Caulk metal sealing strips into seams of impeller wheels and sleeves to form seals using a hammer and caulking chisel.

    + Lift and position spindles into casings to align diaphragms to spindles using lead wires, micrometers, and calipers.

    + Level beams supporting bedplates over test pits using transit, master straightedge, and levels.

    + Align and level blower, induction gear, oil tank, and drive units on bedplates to mark mounting holes using gauges, rules, punches, and scribes.

    + Drill, tap, and ream holes for mounting bolts, coupling guards, and dowel pins using a portable drill press.

    + Install inlet and discharge piping to blowers and attach instruments such as barometers, thermometers, and pressure gauges.

    + Dismantle units from test pits and clean and oil parts prior to shipment.

    + Conduct specified tests to determine blower performance using electrical test equipment and record instrument readings.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience with air tools and hand tools.

    + Understanding of basic motor functions, torque specifications, and gauge knowledge.

    + Proficiency in reading SOPs and engineering drawings, including the ability to measure bolts accurately and read tape measures or rulers.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in general labor and assembly line work.

    + Ability to take feedback and make corrections if assembly errors occur.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Mill, South Carolina.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $20.50/hr.
