    Requirements

    Senior Controls Project Manager

This is where you come in.

We’re looking for a Senior Controls Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of HVAC controls and energy-related projects from start to finish. This role involves managing all phases of project execution, including scoping, estimating, scheduling, project management, commissioning, performance verification, closeout, and owner acceptance.

The Senior Controls Project Manager is also responsible for financial forecasting, securing utility incentives, and ensuring overall project profitability. You’ll collaborate closely with the project team, utility company representatives, and customers to drive successful outcomes, while providing direction to engineers, system technicians, balance technicians, electricians, administrative assistants, and subcontractors as needed.

Top Deliverables in the First Year to Be a Hero

+ Provide Technical Leadership – Support the sale of building controls, energy, and commissioning projects by managing customer meetings, developing riser diagrams for presentations, and preparing scopes of work and pricing.

+ Ensure Scope Clarity & Accuracy – Review specifications, submittals, and design documents to ensure a complete scope of work is developed, minimizing costly changes once project execution begins.

+ Execute Detailed Estimating – Perform and manage detailed estimating for Building Performance Group (BPG) services.

+ Manage Communication & Change Control – Evaluate the contractual scope of work and the impact of client-issued bulletins, field directives, and scheduling changes. Communicate both technical and business-related issues with clients, MacMiller project management, and sales personnel.

This position reports to Stephen Wilson, Lead Project Manager, and is part of a collaborative team working on a variety of projects and initiatives to support our growing business. This highly visible role interacts with all levels and functions within the organization.

Your Background: What Kind of Person Will Thrive in This Role?

    You should have:

+ A track record of delivering controls projects on time and within budget.

+ Expertise providing technical support to team members and working constructively with all personnel involved in a project.

+ A Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent work experience in electrical/mechanical building systems and project management.

+ Bonus: USGBC LEED certification or similar credentials are a plus!

And everyone you work with should describe you as:

+ Skilled at effectively interacting with customers, field personnel, sales, and office staff.

+ Strong in verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.

+ Calm, accurate, and organized when managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

And you should be motivated by:

+ Seeing projects come together successfully!

+ Empowering yourself to learn and grow — if you need constant handholding or micromanagement, this won’t be the right fit.

+ Working in a lean, results-oriented environment where you’re encouraged to take on more and achieve more each year.

+ Having fun in an environment that values transparency, innovation, and collaboration.

    Benefits
