Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and self-motivated Staff Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This long-term contract position requires someone who can independently manage day-to-day accounting tasks with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Finance and a strong background in general ledger management and reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the general ledger, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and trial balances.

• Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.

• Organize and maintain vendor and customer master data, including names, addresses, and payment terms.

• Validate retained earnings and account balances before and after data loads to ensure consistency.

• Review and clean accounting data to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Prepare sales tax returns and other compliance-related filings as needed.

• Handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes efficiently.

• Support the implementation and stabilization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Finance.

• Collaborate with the controller to review and finalize financial data as required.

• Ensure the accuracy of all accounting data feeding into the system. Requirements • 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on staff or senior-level roles.

• Proven expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Finance, including daily use of its accounting functionalities.

• Strong skills in reconciliations, general ledger management, and advanced proficiency in Excel.

• Experience with system implementations or data migrations is a plus.

• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

• Solid understanding of accrual accounting and month-end close procedures.

• Familiarity with sales tax returns, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR) processes.

• Highly reliable and capable of managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
