Description
TheQuality Assurance Technicianis responsible for establishing and/or enhancing product and raw material specifications by conducting equipment & process capability studies such that the facility is in full compliance with corporate, customer, regulatory & federal requirements.

REPORTS TO:
Quality Assurance Lead
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Generating & distributing finished goods certificate of analysis to customers.
• Receiving, reviewing and filing raw material & food contact packaging certificate of analysis and/or certificate of conformance in accordance with vendor specifications.
• Verifying critical control points sheets (metal detection) if feasible.
• Investigating and responding to customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
• Participating in in-house, customers, third party & regulatory agencies audits.
• Leading off quality investigation using TPM tools such as why-why analysis, pareto charts, process capability, etc.
• Developing & leading food safety training sessions.
• Developing and/or updating standard operating procedures, one-point lessons, and work instructions, as necessary.
• Arranging and shipping samples to outside third-party labs for micro, chemical, & physical analysis.
• Performing finished product testing and releasing goods accordingly.
• Generating & distributing quality reports: rework schedules, hold notices, etc.
• Performing laboratory equipment calibration (if feasible).
• Actively participating in all plant safety initiatives.
• Actively participating in the facility TPM program which includes but is not limited to the Autonomous Maintenance & Quality Pillars.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma
• College from a four-year college or university preferred.
• Food Science preferred but not mandatory.
• The ability to read and interpret basic and complex statistical analysis.
• The ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally to all levels of the organization.
• Above average familiarity with Microsoft applications, SPC software (chart runner), & internet explorer not required but preferred.
• Flexibility & willingness to work off shift and weekends as necessary.
• Two (2) years or related experience working in a food manufacturing facility.
• HACCP certification attainment within the first year of employment.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as but not limited to Brookfield Viscometer, Orion pH meter, Aqualab Water Activity Meter, etc.
• Thorough practical and applied knowledge of HACCP, Pest Control Management, Food Allergens, Crisis Management (Food Security), Glass, Brittle Plastic & Ceramic Control, PCQI and other essential food safety programs.
• The Quality Assurance Specialist will be required to work independently with little supervision.

Salary Description
$22.00/per hour
