Description
As aSenior Manager – RF Test Engineering, you will lead the development and deployment of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) solutions for highly integrated RF modules. This role is critical in driving test strategy, ensuring product quality, and enabling high-volume manufacturing for next-generation RF products. You will help define the vision for RF test engineering, develop talent, and collaborate with senior leadership to influence technology roadmaps. The position requires strong technical expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to operate effectively under pressure.
Responsibilities
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Responsibilities include directing, leading and managing the technical activities in one or more engineering disciplines (mechanical, software, packaging, electrical, reliability, systems, applications, or process engineering). Evaluates final results of research and development projects to assure accomplishment of technical objectives. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Leadership & Strategy
+ Define and execute the long-term vision for RF test engineering aligned with business objectives.
+ Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
+ Drive organizational growth and foster a culture of innovation and accountability.
Technical Oversight
+ Guide development of RFIC ATE test solutions for NPI and high-volume manufacturing.
+ Establish test strategies to improve yield, coverage, quality, and cost efficiency.
+ Engage with external vendors to evaluate and integrate emerging test technologies.
Cross-Functional & Executive Engagement
+ Present technical strategies and progress to senior management and executive stakeholders.
+ Collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure alignment and successful execution.
+ Oversee efficient transfer of test solutions to manufacturing sites and subcontractors.
Operational Management
+ Support international sites through travel (up to 25%) and remote collaboration.
+ Manage budgets, timelines, and resources effectively under dynamic conditions.
Required Experience and Skills
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in EE, CS, Physics, CE or related field.
+ 12+ years in RF test engineering with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
+ Proven experience in developing high-volume RFIC test solutions on ATE platforms.
+ Familiarity with semiconductor IC handlers, wafer probers, and RF instrumentation (VNA, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, tuners, power meters).
+ Strong knowledge of RF wireless standards (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, 5G NR etc.).
+ Demonstrated success in transferring test solutions to offshore manufacturing partners.
+ Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Desired Experience and Skills
+ Experience with RF PA, LNA, switches, couplers, and multiplexers.
+ Familiarity with Cohu RedDragon & Advantest 93K ATE platforms.
+ PCB design for RF test socket boards and wafer probe cards.
+ Programming proficiency (C++, C#, Python, etc.) for test automation.
+ Knowledge of semiconductor IC communication protocols (MIPI, I²C, etc.).
+ Expertise in mmWave and advanced 5G technologies; awareness of emerging 6G standards.
+ Experience with AI-driven test optimization, Copilot-style software integration, and machine learning techniques for predictive analytics and test automation.
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $143,000 - $286,400 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
