Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Battery Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Equipment and Process Sr. Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead equipment and process development for new model projects through structure evaluation and support of pilot teams. Primary focus in battery case weld and platform.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Battery Department's objective to prepare the TMMI Battery Production (Toyota Indiana) shops to be successful in achieving launch KPIs for safety, quality, productivity and cost during model changes and new model implementation through strong equipment and processing development.
What you’ll be doing
+ Evaluating body design of new models with consideration of reducing safety risk to team members, improving internal shop quality, manufacturability, and reducing impact to downstream shops, while meeting internal and external KPIs.
+ Evaluate equipment design specifications for new models to meet human design standards, deliver repeatable body accuracy, and meet productivity requirements.
+ Communicate with multiple internal and external departments within Toyota, as well as machine vendors and contractors. This includes giving regular updates to manager and above for project status.
+ Manage large capital projects working with Production, Maintenance, Internal Logistics, PE & SE, and QE Groups.
+ Responsible for coordinating all aspects of projects including budget justification, Ringi development, scheduling, installation, confirmation and final handover to Production.
+ Facilitate problem solving activities for process and equipment issues during planning, set-up, and trial phases. Although this is a pilot position, may also support production as needed.
+ Responsible for FSR (Feasibility Study Request) & ECI (Engineering Change Instruction), as well as resolving field issues with investigation and countermeasure activity.
What you bring
+ Two-year degree in manufacturing or engineering related field or 5 years of equivalent manufacturing experience.
+ 3 years of experience in equipment specifications, design, install and validation.
+ Basic understanding of cross-functional collaboration between various groups.
+ Proficient knowledge in MS Office applications (Excel for data analysis and MS Project/Planner for schedules)
+ This position requires weekend work, holiday shutdown work, and confirmation support to allow for smooth restart of production.
+ Ability to travel up to 25% both domestically & internationally.
+ This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position.
Added bonus if you have
+ Familiarity with C3, Catia, CAD, XVL software.
+ Experience with the equipment buyoff & kanban system.
+ Experience with new technology such as: Spot welding, Robot systems, Vision systems, or Dispense applications.
+ Experience with Multipulse/11 Step Welding
+ Experience with Toyota Weld Standards
+ Skilled Maintenance Experience
+ New Model Pre-Production experience
+ Experience reviewing body design and providing feedback on issues found.
+ Understanding of body accuracy data, as well as steps to improve/achieve repeatable measurements.
+ TBP (Toyota Business Process) completion up through panel review
