As a Chemical Operator Apprentice in our Appleton, WI, you will make an impact on the world with a fundamental focus on sustainability. As a Chemical Operator Apprentice, you will be a part of a team which manufactures additives, specifically defoamer for paints, coating lubricants for paper, floor coating additive, crosslinker for paper, and agricultural additives that are used in pesticides and fertilizers!
During your 8-hour shift as an Apprentice, you will
Academic studies…
You’ll begin the Chemical Plant Operations academic program at Augusta Technical College while working and learning in our Appleton, WI manufacturing site from some of the best in the business. During your time here we don’t want you to sweat the small stuff so BASF will cover the entire cost of your educational program, this includes tuition, books, and fees!
When you’re not studying you will have opportunities to…
Work hands-on in our Appleton, WI manufacturing site learning to:
+ Perform daily / weekly / monthly safety walkthrough and housekeeping inspections.
+ Display active ownership of a portion of the site safety program & facilitates safety improvements.
+ Support Safe Work Permitting practices to ensure the safety of all working in production areas.
+ Maintain order and cleanliness of production work areas.
+ Use of computer-based systems to generate production instructions, to report production and receive and ship materials.
+ Support QC function by performing in-process testing on products
+ The receipt and shipment of bulk raw materials and finished products including loading and unloading operations.
+ Package finished products into totes and drums
+ Perform batch reconciliation for raw materials used to create a batch of finished products.
+ Operate forklifts to bring materials to and take materials away from the production area.
If you...
• Have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Can work in a manufacturing environment and lift 50lbs.
• Ability to stand extended amounts of time.
• Able to work in hot or cold environments.
• Must be willing and available to work Monday-Friday 7am-4pm and convert to either shift - Monday-Friday 4am -12pm OR 11am-7pm depending on business need.
• Are willing to enroll in and complete the Chemical Plant Operations academic on line program at Augusta Technical College to launch a career in Manufacturing.
