Job Overview
The Center for Brain Plasticity and Recovery (CBPR) is a research center focused on studies of basic learning and development and of enhancing recovery from stroke and other brain injuries in children and
adults. Ten faculty at Georgetown, National Rehabilitation Hospital, and other affiliated Universities, as well as their graduate students and fellows, participate in our research. The Center Manager reports to the
Director and plays a key role in the interaction of the Center with its faculty and also with the community (subject/family interactions and academic interactions with faculty and scholars from across the country).
The Center Manager is responsible for overseeing the Center’s infrastructure activities and the funded training programs of the Center. The Center Manager is also responsible for outreach and dissemination of
the Center’s research and academic activities. For example, he/she will create and maintain documents to publicize the activities of the Center including the CBPR website and materials for CBPR brochures. He/she
will also assist with preparation of grant materials and manage the subcontracts for our large grant portfolio.
The Center has a Senior Financial Administrator who is responsible for maintaining our budgets and conducting accounting activities; the Center Manager will oversee and manage our research and training
activities. The individual will be expected to independently fulfill these high level duties with great independence and little supervision. The Center Manager is also responsible for some day-to-day operational activities and administration, including supervision of student workers. Our full-time Center Manager will be on maternity leave from November 1 2025 to April 1 2026; this temporary part-time position is to replace our full-time Center Manager during her maternity leave, beginning with a short overlap in order to receive training.
Work Interactions
Reports to the Director of the Center for Brain Plasticity and Recovery. Provides project management and administrative support to faculty associated with the Center and coordinates operations across the Center's GUMC and MedStar sites. Hires and supervises lower-level staff including an administrative assistant and providing guidance to student employees who work for our faculty labs. Also interacts with small donors and foundations.
Requirements and Qualifications
+ Bachelors degree required, Masters or Ph.D. preferred.
+ 7 years of administrative experience with Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of administrative experience with Masters or Ph.D. degree required
+ Previous experience should include program direction and managing other staff
+ At least 2-3 years experience in an academic, medical center, or governmental setting
+ Extremely strong writing skills
+ Organizational abilities
+ Computer skills
+ Knowledge of cognitive neuroscience
+ Strong project management skills
+ Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication, be highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Pay Range
The projected hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $39.60- $48.40. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
