We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design, develop and deliver enterprise scenarios with proven application development experience and knowledge of API development (REST, RPC). The ideal candidate is one who combines a passion for customer with technical expertise and is a team player. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, implementing AI tools for .NET Migration and creating AI solutions for telemetry pipelines for the .NET team to process data from internal Microsoft services that are using .NET stack.
Our team functions in a data driven and fast paced environment, where Engineers are empowered to innovate and take ideas from cradle to grave. This is a highly visible role with an opportunity to work on system that drives feedback into the product through customer data points. In this role, you will also collaborate with many teams within Microsoft and across disciplines to solve complex business challenges for teams using the .NET stack. You will also be expected to demonstrate the ability to learn and adopt relevant technologies, tools used by partner teams. You will be expected to meet with stakeholders to get requirements, document the design, review it with stakeholders, implement the features and modularize components for plug and play. Essentially, you will truly own the feature from start to finish. Additionally, as a Senior Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for driving best practices and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
+ Build AI tools and their underlying infrastructure migrate .NET Framework to .NET Core.
+ System design through well-defined interfaces across multiple components, code reviews, leveraging data/telemetry to make decisions.
+ Develop “best-in-class” engineering for our services by ensuring that the services and the components are well-defined and modularized, secure, reliable, diagnosable, and pluggable.
+ Gain a working understanding of Microsoft services and collaborate with mentors and leaders to contribute to cohesive, end-to-end experience for our users.
+ Focus on customer/partner needs through a data driven approach.
+ Integrate AI-assisted tools to improve productivity, code quality, developer experience, including prototyping AI tools using technologies like Model Context Protocol Servers
+ Contribute to a team culture that embraces diversity and inclusion
+ Design telemetry tools with focus on high scalability and robustness
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 4+ years of software design and development experience with backend services.
+ 6+ months of experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, or similar) to enhance productivity and code quality.
+ 6+ months of experience applying AI technologies in software development workflows, including tasks like static analysis, automated documentation, test generation, prompt engineering, Model Context Protocol Servers.
Other Requirements
+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
+ Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 3+ yearshands on experience in any Object-Oriented coding language such as C#, Java, or Python.
+ Experience communicating technical details clearly across organizational boundaries.
+ Cloud and services experience, with Azure cloud experience as a preference.
+ Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) Servers and AI tools.
+ Experience with or exposure to large scale data mining processes.
+ Experience in developing Agentic AI applications.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
